The men caught up with Kasi at the SUV. She was still annoyed, but the anger she felt overhearing Taker's remarks, was fading. There was a lesson here! Most wrestlers slept with their attendants! She had to remember that!

Giving them a bland look, an eyebrow arched, as she waited impatiently as Brian unlocked the back of the vehicle, Kasi threw her bags into the rear storage area.

"Let's go eat!" Brian said brightly, looking from one to the other!

Kasi climbed into the back when Brian unlocked the doors. He held open the front passenger door for her, but she chose to sit in the back. The quizzical look he threw her, was met with cool disdain. Shrugging his massive shoulders, he walked around and climbed beneath the wheel. Taker climbed into the shotgun seat and looked back at Kasi curiously. Within minutes,they were headed downtown.

As they pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant, Kasi noticed there was music and a dance floor inside. Strains of a country ballad drifted out to greet them. This place was reputed to serve the best steaks anywhere, and was part of a nation-wide chain. This particular establishment was the biggest one Kasi had seen.

As they headed inside, all thoughts of food vanished, as she caught sight of those hardwoods. They were seated at a table near the railing that separated the restaurant from the dance floor. Kasi could hardly contain herself, as her foot began to tap along in time to the music. The two men exchanged amused glances at her obvious excitement.

"AHEM, Kasi, what do you want to eat?" Brian asked, not bothering to hide his amused grin.

"T-Bone salad, and iced tea!" She said, not taking her eyes off the action just ten feet away!

Before either man knew what was happening, she was out of her chair and heading for the hardwoods, unable to resist the temptation any longer. They watched in amazement, as she got right in there with the rest of them, falling right in step with the Push-Tush. They watched her through three more. Finally she came back to the table, grinning broadly, her color andexcitement high.

"WHEW! That was fun!" She said sitting down and reaching for her tea, glancing at each man in turn!

"I didn't know you could dance like that!" Brian said, smiling at her. She was damn good out there!

"There's a lot you don't know about me, Mr. Lee!" She said, wiping the beads of perspiration from her upper lip, and from the back of her neck.

"So I see! And what other surprises do you have in store?" He said softly, fire burning in his blue eyes.

"Another time, perhaps!" was her secretive reply. Their eyes met and held, till Taker spoke up,destroying the moment.

"This steak is great! Damn fine!" He said, watching them as he chewed his meat!

Finally, Kasi attacked her salad with a vengeance! Brian and Taker finished their meals then Brian signaled for the waitress.

"Y'all want a drink?" He asked. When they said yes,Brain placed their orders.

While waiting for their drinks to arrive, the two men were left alone again, as Kasi once again hit the dance floor. But when a cowboy asked her to dance to another slow one, Taker sensed Brian's anger beginning to grow. Brian's eyes never left Kasi's figure, in that guy's arms. Her graceful movements, told a story all of their own. The sensuous sway of her hips, the way she moved in time with the music, and the self-confident, almost smug smile that asshole wore, was just too much for him. Taker sensing the approaching explosion, pushed Brian back down into his chair, then made his way over to where Kasi and the cowboy were dancing.

The big man tapped the cowboy on the shoulder, cutting in on their dance.

"Not now! You can have the next one!" The man said without looking around.

Taker didn't take being ignored, well, and tapped him "slightly" harder.

"DAMN, boy, I said you can have ......" The cowboy said as he turned around, staring at Taker's huge chest, irritated by this intrusion. Kasi looked amused by the whole thing!

"I'm cutting in!" Taker growled at the smaller man, glaring down at him, daring him to disagree!

"OK! Sure! No problem!" He said, getting away from the biggest man he had EVER seen! Kasi grinned as her partner disappeared in the crowd.

"May I have this dance?" Taker asked her politely, bringing her attention back to him.

"Sure!" She replied, as he took he in his massive arms.

As soon as he pulled her to him, Kasi felt a shock, almost an electric jolt! Glancing up, confused, she wondered if he felt it too! But he gave no indication that anything had happened.

"I'm not the best dancer, so I apologize in advance, for stepping on your toes." He had to lean down slightly, his lips close to her ear, so he could be heard.

The closeness of his lips to her ear, feeling his breath, was almost her undoing. Kasi missed a step and stumbled against his huge, hard body. Her face flamed with embarassement and lust! Would this song NEVER end??? Did she want it to? And as she thought that, the dance did, indeed come to an end. Taker escorted her back to their table, holding her chair as she sat down. Brian was fuming!

"Cousin, I think the next one is yours!" Taker said huskily, his face unreadable.

Brian took the hint and as another ballad began, he asked Kasi to dance. She agreed, not wanting to remain next to Taker, and Brian led her out to the floor.

She thought Taker's touch was electrifying but Brian's was nothing short of a wildfire! The instant his arms went around her, pulling her against him, she knew she was lost! Her arms went up around his shoulders on their own. It was as if they were the only two people there, as Trisha Yearwood's sultry "How Can I Live" played in the background.

They moved together as if they were one instead of two! Lifting her eyes to his, she saw he felt it too! Unable to look away, she thought it the most natural thing in the world, for him to lower his head to hers, and cover her lips with his own! The kiss was tender, at first, but quickly deepened as their passions rose. It was the most natural thing for her to respond with as much enthusiasm and feeling as he was showing. So caught up in the moment, neither one was aware that the dance ended, and a faster, more up-beat tune began!

They became aware of the others hooting and shouting encouragement. Kasi blushed again, as they slowly parted. The smart-assed grin on Brian's face, as he led her back to the table, indicated he knew how this night was going to end!

"Y'all ready to go?" Taker asked, a knowing smirk tugging at his sexy mouth.

"HELL YEAH!" Brian said with feeling, as he tossed some money on the table covering their bill.

Taking Kasi's hand, Brian led her out of the restaurant with Taker bringing up the rear! They made the trip back to the hotel in record time! As it happened, Taker was staying at the same hotel, in fact, his room was right down the hall from Brian's.

Brian got off with Kasi, telling his cousin, goodnight, as they stepped off the elevator. Kasi hadn't spoken since they left the dance floor. Speech was not possible! The fact that she was about to have sex with Brian Lee, was all she could think about! Yet it seemed the right thing to do! But what about Mack?

Brian unlocked her door, holding it open for her. Kasi entered, not stopping till she stood in the center of the huge room. Then and only then, did she turn to face the huge man!

Brian laid her key card on the night stand. His eyes never left her. Kasi slowly walked over to him. The uncertainty, the indecision, easily read in her eyes! He studied her, taking in the soft color stain her cheeks, the bright eyes, and knew tonight was not the time! He could see she was already feeling guilty over something she hadn't even done!

Taking her by the shoulders, Brian kissed her softly on the forehead. "I'll see you tomorrow. Good-night, Kasi!" Then left her room, leaving her standing there watching open-mouthed, as he closed the door.

*****************

Next morning, Taker and Brian went out for breakfast. Kasi begged off, pleading exhaustion as the cause.

"Next time!" She said grumpily, her hair all mussed and hanging all around her face and shoulders.

Brian laughed softly, promising to bring her back something to eat. He joined his cousin in the lobby, and together, they headed to the Waffle House next to the hotel.

Going inside, the two big men drew A LOT of attention, especially from the females! Taking the booth in the back, Taker sat with his back to the restaurant,facing Brian.

"So, Cousin, did you tuck the little lady in last night?" Taker asked, eyeing his cousin, grinning wickedly!

Brian met the other's eyes levelly. "No, as a matter of fact, I didn't! I saw her to her room, then left!" He said causally, looking down at the menu in front of him.

Taker threw back his head, laughing loudly. When he met the other man's annoyed gaze, Taker got his humor under control with an effort. "So! The lady slept alone!" Taker watched his cousin, weighing his words before speaking. "Just how deep do your feelings go,for your new valet?"

"What exactly do you mean, cuz?" Brian eyed the bigger man skeptically, stirring cream in the cup of coffee before him.

"What about a little wager? She interests me! First one to bed her and brings back a souvenir, wins! Something the other one will recognize. We'll go buy her something white and lacy. That way, we'll know it when one of us brings it back!" Taker watched the other man, curious as to his lack of reaction.

"OK! But I feel the need to warn you! She's not "easy"! She won't just fall in your bed like most of your other women!" Brian was more than a little annoyed with his cousin! "She's a LADY!"

"Good! I don't care for ring rats, as you very well know!" Taker grinned wolfishly. "We'll go shopping after we eat! AGREED?"

"AGREED!" Brian said, grinning tightly! Both men were famished and ordered HUGE breakfasts!

A short time later, they left an exclusive boutique, carrying a small shopping bag, containing a frothy bit of lace that tried to pass itself off as a nightgown. The soft peach color would suit Kasi's coloring to perfection.

"When will you give it to her?" Taker asked, as they climbed into the SUV.

"I'll give it to her tonight after dinner!" Brian said as he cranked the vehicle! He had tossed the shopping bag in the back seat.

They discussed the rest of Brian's tour, where he would be going in the next few days, as they drove back to the hotel. Taker had a flight to catch in a couple of hours and still hadn't packed. They agreed to meet on Friday.

"It's been a while since I was in Bowling Green! I'll meet you at the Hyatt there! My treat!" His green eyes sparkling merrily as they entered the hotel.

Brian was quiet, not liking this one bit! He could kick his OWN ass for agreeing to this asinine bet! Only concellation came from his knowledge of Kasi! That certainity that she would remain as she was! Untouched by both of them!

As they parted company, Brian felt compelled to warn Taker one last time! "You're gonna lose!"

That night, as Brian and Kasi ate dinner in his room, he reached under the table and brought out the small shopping bag, handing it to his surprised companion!

"Oh, Brian! You shouldn't have!" She exclaimed, peering inside. Pulling the sexy garment out of the bag, she blushed faintly realizing what it was.

Brian watched her reaction, watched as desire began to darken her eyes, and wondered if he'd told his cousin the truth!!

Ch.5! The Pro!

Kasi had been surprised, to say the least, but she loved the nightgown. She had been reluctant to accept it, but he insisted there were no strings attached. She met his eyes skeptically, yet her delight with his gift was easy to read.

"Brian, I really shouldn't accept this!" Kasi said. "But I am!" Grinning with pleasure over the gift, her head tilted to the side.

That had been two weeks ago! Taker had met them AGAIN in Bowling Green, Kentucky. And now, three days into her second tour with Brian, Kasi was informed that Taker would be traveling with them for the next week! Now what was THAT all about? It's not like he didn't have his OWN career to think about! Why was he traveling with them? OH WELL! Brain would tell her eventually! Taker would be joining them the next day.

As they pulled into the parking lot of YET another motel, Kasi thought about her book. She would have it ready to send to her publisher by the end of the week. What little "dirt" she had uncovered, really wasn't all that much! The worst of it revolved around certain wrestlers being made to do certain high-risk maneuvers. Most of them did not want to do these stunts, but did them anyway!

As they entered the motel, Kasi had her laptop packed securely in her carry on! She would post her final chapter by weeks end! Her publisher would receive the whole manuscript by Monday.

As usual, their rooms were next door to each others, and on the inside. Brian preferred outside rooms, but for Kasi's protection, he asked for them to be inside and connecting. Kasi closed and locked the door behind her, then tossed her bags on the big, king-sized bed. Brian knocked on the connecting door, then swung it open.

"You getting settled?" He asked, stepping into her room. Looking around, Brian saw their rooms were nearly identical.

Kasi turned to look at the big man curiously. He had something on his mind. She watched as he paced back and forth, his hands clasped behind him.

"What's up?" She asked, sitting down on the side of the bed, digging in her purse for her cigarettes.

The big man didn't answer right away, as he paused long enough to inspect a plant in the silk arrangement on the dresser. He finally walked over to stand in front of her.

"Kasi... we've known each other for about a year, now. We've traveled together for almost two months. I'd like to carry this relationship to the next level!" Brian held her eyes, standing in front of her, legs spread, hands still clasped behind him.

Her eyes widened in surprise! Kasi couldn't believe what she was hearing! The GAUL of the man! The absolute NERVE! Coming to her feet, Kasi glared at him! Now it was HER turn to pace!

"You ask me THIS? You come into MY room and ask me this? What...you didn't want to just let it ride and see IF I wanted to take it to the NEXT LEVEL? Didn't want to just let "nature take it's course"? You are some piece of work, MR. Brian Lee!" She was agitated beyond reason! Her blue eyes shot daggers at him.

Surprised by her angry outburst, Brian grabbed her, holding her still in front of him. And if looks could kill, he would indeed, be dead. With a growl of sheer frustration, Brian covered her mouth with his, until she stopped struggling. He held her until he felt her hands slip around his waist, until he felt her respond! Then, and only then did he loosen his grip on her shoulders, and pull her closer to him!

Kasi melted against him. Her arms slid up his broad back pulling him even closer. As his lips moved over hers, she gently chewed on his bottom lip. Brian's sharply indrawn breath told her far better than words, just how affected he was by her actions. Her lips moved along his jaw, then down his thickly muscled neck, carefully nibbling the tender flesh there.

Groaning deeply, Brian picked her up, and carried her to the foot of the huge bed. Laying her down, Brian lay next to her, throwing his leg over hers. Now he could savor her body at will.

Kasi was lost! She felt herself drowning in his kisses, felt as though she had no will of her own. All of her bones had turned to jelly, as his huge hands removed her shirt. Kasi lost all control as his hands covered her swollen breasts.

Moaning softly, she tore at his clothes, wanting to feel more of him, to get closer to him. Within minutes, their clothes were hanging off the lamp, on the floor, all over the place. Brian shoved her bags off the bed, allowing them more room. Then he began his assault in earnest.

He looked deep into her eyes, as he finally claimed her body. He watched as her eyes darkened to an even deeper blue, a half-smile curving her soft lips. Within minutes, she cried out his name as her release washed over her.

But Brian wasn't finished with her! Not for a couple of hours, was he finished. Not until he had explored to his satisfaction and hers, every inch of her body. When he finally went back to his room, Kasi was sound asleep! Standing in the doorway, he watched her steady even breathing, and knew he could not betray her! Quietly, he closed the door connecting the two rooms.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kasi woke up slowly, stretching her entire length, chasing away the sleep! The first thing she became aware of, was feeling like she was sexually hung over, as though she had had a L O N G night of passion with Mack! The second thing she became aware of, was her nudity!
Slowly, she slid her legs over the side of the bed, sitting there as memory of what transpired, returned! Kasi found herself blushing at some of the things they had done! Holding her head in her hands, she groaned softly. "GAWD! What have I done!" She thought miserably!
"Kasi! I thought I heard you stirring around!" Brian handed her a cup of coffee as he sat down across from her. He watched, fascinated, as she struggled into a t-shirt.
"Thanks! What time is it?" She asked huskily, unable to meet his eyes.
"It's 5:30! Good thing the show isn't till tomorrow afternoon! Don't think I'd be, ahmm, "up to it"!" Brian sid dryly, eyes shining with good humor.
Groaning softly, more embarrassed than she could EVER remember being, Kasi bowed her head, hiding her face behind her long mop of hair.
"Brian! I don't know what to say! This never should have happened!" Embarrassment, as well as guilt, colored her hastily spoken words.
"But I'm glad it did! Kasi, I'm not going to say I'm sorry it happened, or even promise it won't happen again! I want you now! But we have things to do! So get dressed and I'll meet you in the lobby in half an hour!" Then he made her look at him. He kissed her in such a way, Kasi was unable to move! She just stood there, watching as he went back to his room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kasi was a few minutes late meeting Brian in the lobby. She showered, then couldn't decide what to wear, finally settling on a skimpy navy blue t-shirt, and walking shorts. She had slipped on a pair sandals, all in all, Kasi looked like just another tourist visiting Winston-Salem for the first time.

It was their custom to work out after dinner each evening, so she knew that wasn't what he had in mind.

"Sorry I'm late!" She smiled slightly, meeting his stern look with a guilty one of her own.

His gentle laugh brought a dazzling smile to her lips. Taking her hand in his, Brian led her toward the door. He stopped just outside of the motel, giving her a curious look.

Wondering what he was doing NOW, Kasi lifted questioning eyes to his! "WHAT!" She asked.

"How OLD did you say you were again? Cuz I swear you don't look a day over 16!" Brian's look was heated as he undressed her with his eyes.

Kasi's breath caught at the look he gave her. But with her hair pulled back and her face free of make-up, she didn't look to be of legal age. She quickly turned away, but not before he saw her eyes darken with desire, or the faint blush staining her cheeks.

"Come on! Let's take a walk before I change my mind about it!" His voice roughened by the heat running through his veins.

They headed toward the business district, just a few blocks from their motel. Neither one said a word for some few minutes, not even when Brian took her hand, holding it as they walked. It seemed the most natural thing in the world for him to do, and his touch set her pulse to racing.

It was summer time, and the tourists were out! They explored the sites, stopping here and there, tasting the assorted delicacies the street vendors had to offer.

As dusk approached, they happened to be passing a fortune teller! The old woman was set up in a colorful tent right in the middle of the street fair. The flap was open, and they could see she had a customer with her. As Kasi and Brian paused in front of the tent, a teen-aged male cousin of the woman's smiled at Kasi when their eyes happened to meet.

"Would the pretty lady like to have her fortune told?" The boy eyed Kasi appreciatively, in spite of the rather large man standing at her side.

Laughing softly, her blue eyes dancing merrily, Kasi declined the offer. "Another time perhaps!" She said, smiling at the boy!

At that moment, the old woman inside the tent glanced up, meeting Kasi's eyes. For the space of two heartbeats, their eyes held, then the old woman murmured a few more words to her customer, stood up and walked him out.

Her eyes never strayed from the striking couple standing in front of the tent. One would assume them to be man and wife, judging from the proprietary way the big man touched her. The old woman's sharp eyes took in even the tiniest of details, like the smoldering look in the man's eyes when ever he glanced at the woman at his side.

"Come on, let me read your fortune! The big one can go after you!" The woman said, smiling as she took Kasi's arm leading her into the cool interior of the tent.

Kasi sat down in the chair across from her, and thought of her grandmother! That was who the old woman reminded her of. Glancing back at Brian, she saw him smiling at her, standing with his feet apart and with his hands tucked up under his armpits. Turning back to the old woman, Kasi saw she was studying her intently.

"You make your living with words. The big one does not know this. He is not your husband, although, given a chance, he could be!" She murmured. Her sharp gray eyes searching Kasi's amazed eyes. Reaching out, she pulled Kasi's right hand toward her, studied the lines there, then studied the left one.

Kasi could only look at the woman, surprised or shocked would be more like it, that she knew all this. Shivers ran down her spine by this woman's revelation. Gift, talent or curse, what ever you wanted to call it, made Kasi uneasy and more than a little afraid.

"Do not fear me, child, for I mean you no harm. I tell you what I see." The gray head bent once again, as the old woman studied Kasi's left palm. Satisfied at last, she let go of Kasi's hand.

Leaning back in her straight back chair, the old woman looked at Kasi, a kind expression on her wrinkled old face. She knew Kasi was a little spooked.

"Honey, I keep seeing a silk, peach colored garment, a nightgown perhaps. This garment was purchased as a trophy, or sourvenier, in a sort of contest. This man did not want to be part of it, but the other one more or less, pushed him in to it. He counts on your virtue to overcome this. His discretion in this matter is absolute! He IS a true southern gentleman, one that can be trusted completely. But be careful with his affections. He will be easily hurt, and will react in a contrary fashion. He will seem NOT to care, when in fact he cares rather deeply, even more than he is aware of. The other one.... I see darkness around him. He is intrigued by your reaction to him, the temper directed at him. His heart, too, will be touched, but he will try to deny it, in fact will fight against it. You are attracted to both men, but follow what your heart tells you! There will be pain, even anger. The one will feel betrayed. But your love will bring you back together." The old woman fell silent, a hint of a smile tugging at her lips. Then almost as an afterthought, she added. "The child will be a little girl. She will be born while you are parted from her father. She will be conceived by weeks end!" Once more, the old woman fell silent.

Kasi could only sit and stare at the old woman.

"You can ask me your questions." The old woman said, reminding Kasi once again, of her grandmother.

"How do you know this?" Kasi whispered, eyes wide in shock.

"I see it in your face and in you palms." She replied calmly.

"And my book?" Kasi was hardly able to say the words.

"It will be a best seller! IF you make it a romance novel rather than a "tell all" kind of book. This is also what causes the trouble between you and this one. He feels betrayed by it. He feels as though he has been duped." The old woman said. "Now, please send in the big man!"

Kasi left the tent, and told Brian to go inside. Brian looked at her curiously, wondering why she was so pale, then went inside. The old woman chuckled softly as she took Brian's hands, and was heard to say "My, you're a big one!"

Kasi couldn't be sure, but she would have sworn that Brian actually blushed. A few minutes later,the big man came back out. The old woman had refused his money, saying it had been her pleasure to read them.

"What did she tell you?" Kasi asked dying to know, as they walked away.

"She said I was going to win the belt in the next two weeks." Brian said. She also had told him he was going to have a very welcome surprise in the coming months. But she wouldn't say what. She had merely smiled that half-smile of hers and looked out at Kasi. "Let's eat! I'm starving!" Brian grinned wolfishly, as he guided her toward a nearby surf and turf restaurant.

A short time later, they made their way back to the motel.

The next day, while waiting for his match, Kasi stood by the back door of the high school where the show was being held. The dressing room accomadations were horrible! Kasi had been reduced to getting ready in a room full of huge men! And ALL of them had watched her as though she were a piece of meat. She felt violated to her soul!

As she finished her cigarette, throwing it aside, Brian came up behind her, wrapping his big arms around her, pulling her back against him. "I'm sorry about the dressing room. This won't happen again!" He said, nuzzling her neck.

"That's ok. It's not your fault! By the way, here comes Taker!" Kasi said quietly, glancing up at Brian. He was watching Taker walk across the parking lot toward them. Taker was wearing a confident smirk on his handsome face.

Ch.6! The Pro!

Brian had been unsuccessful in getting Kasi to tell him what the old woman had said. Yet every time he looked at her, she had a secretive smile on her face, and a soft, misty look in her eyes.

One afternoon, shortly after Taker had re-joined them, Brian found himself alone. Taker and Kasi had gone to a near-by gym to work out! Kasi said she felt the need to punch the bag a few times! He couldn't help but grin at that, knowing she was annoyed that his cousin was coming along on this portion of their tour.

Going into her room, Brian walked around looking! Picking up a bottle of lotion, he sniffed, and the fragrant scent brought to mind images of Kasi asleep beside him. This scent would always remind him of her! Smiling gently, his eyes ran over the assorted cosmetics and hair stuff, she had laying all over the bathroom vanity!

Setting the bottle back down, he wandered back into the bedroom. Opening her nightstand drawer, he found her journal. Grinning wickedly, Brian opened it, thinking he'd found her diary. What he HAD found, was the last three chapters of her manuscript.

As he read the pages, a cold anger began to replace the lighter mood he'd been in just minutes before. Sitting down on the bed, Brian read page after page of what amounted to a hatchet job of a sport he'd made a damn good living at, for over ten years!

She had used him!She had compared pro-wrestling to a carnival freak show! Closing the journal, Brian put it back where he'd found it, and left the room. He had some thinking to do!

Kasi and Taker had a good work out! They arrived back at the hotel, laughing and joking with each other!

"Kasi will you have dinner with me?" Taker asked as they rode the elevator up to their floor.

"What about Brian?" She asked still smiling, although inside warning bells were going off!

"He's not invited!" Taker grinned at her, his hypnotic green eyes holding hers.

"I..." She was stopped from finishing when Taker leaned down, covering her soft lips with his own.

Kasi stiffened, but slowly began to relax, even to respond, to the demanding pressure of his mouth on hers. The thought of Brian came rushing past the passion that was growing for this big man. With a gasp, Kasi pulled away, unable to meet his eyes.

"I'm sorry, but I can't!" She stammered nervously, throughly ashamed of her easy behavior with this man.

Taker only smiled his secretive little smile, as he stepped away from her. His demanding green eyes never leaving her face.

"OK! Call me if you change your mind. I'd love to have you for dinner!" His smug smile never left his sexy mouth.

Kasi didn't miss that last remark, nor the meaning behind it. As much as anyone, she was aware of Taker's reputation with women!

Meeting his steady gaze with some difficulty, Kasi managed a shaky smile, and said she would do that. Just then, the elevator doors opened having arrived at their floor.

As she closed the door behind her, Kasi had the feeling someone had been in her room. Thinking it had probably been Brian, she smiled softly, feeling his presence even before she turned around.

"When did you intend to tell me ?" The quiet anger was more terrible than if he had been yelling. Kasi knew as she turned to face him, that he had found the journal.

The hurt, the sense of betrayal, and the controlled anger was all there to see in his expressive blue eyes. Kasi walked over and sat down on the bed, dropping her small duffle on the floor. Her eyes never left Brian's face. Finally, looking away, she opened the nightstand drawer, and removed the journal. She looked at it for a moment, feeling sadness and a sense of loss.

"Brian, I don't know what to say,or even where or how to begin! I'm asking you to trust me in this thing! It's not exactly what you may think!" Her voice barely above a whisper, as her eyes silently begged for understanding.

Running a hand over his face, Brian let out a ragged sigh, walked over and sat down in the chair next to the windows. He sat staring out the window, unsure what to think or say. The sun was setting outside and everything had a golden glow about it. It looked as if it was going to be a beautiful night. Finally, Brian turned back to her.

"OK, Kasi, try explaining to me about the journal." The hurt in his voice, tore at her heart, making her feel guiltier than she thought possible.

Looking down at her hands, picking nervously at the spread, she thought about where to begin.

"I became curious about the popularity of this thing called sports entertainment. So I watched a few shows, went to a couple of events and did some reading up on the subject. That only served to increase my curiosity. So I applied to your school. From these shows, the whole thing seemed pretty hokey. Then I was accepted at your school! While a lot of it IS pretty hokey, I HAVE developed a great respect for these athletes. These guys have a real dedication for the sport, and all it entails! Plus, I've come to care a great deal for you!" She finished softly, not daring to meet his eyes. "While I still want to do the book, I've changed my mind about the type of book I want it to be!" She finished softly, barely glancing in his direction.

He studied her intently, wondering if he should believe her. Gawd knows he wanted to! Brian considered all she had told him. It could be true, but he was hesitant to buy everything she said. She had betrayed him! She had used him! And Brian just didn't know if he could get past that!

Kasi got to her feet and went over to him. Kneeling beside the chair, she placed her hands on his arm, looking up into his face. The beseeching look she gave him, tugged at his heart. Swallowing past the lump in his throat, Brian felt himself weakening.

"Please! Can you forgive me?" She pleaded softly, her eyes searching his intently.

Sighing deeply, Brian lifted her to her feet, then pulled her down on his lap. The kiss was cool at first, but quickly became more heated. She wrapped her arms around his neck, as she poured all the passion she felt for him into that kiss. Soon, they moved to the bed, where they stayed for the rest of the night.

The next morning, over breakfast, Taker joined them just as they were finishing.

"So, Kasi, I had hoped you would change your mind about last night!" Taker watched as her eyes widened, and a guilty blush colored her cheeks.

Brian studied the two, angrily, having pushed his plate away from him. Kasi looked guilty of SOMETHING! He studied her silently, then turned his attention to his cousin. The unreadable look on that one's face told Brian nothing at all. But Kasi! She looked guilty as sin!

"Do you have something to tell me Kasi? DID you and Taker REALLY spend the afternoon at the gym?" Brian's soft voice hid the truth of what he was really feeling.

Gasping in disbelief, Kasi turned hurt, angry eyes to Brian. "That's EXACTLY what we did!"

Brian studied her for some few minutes, wondering if she was being honest. Looking at his cousin, Taker merely raised one eyebrow and said, "Like the lady said. We were at the gym!" But the tone he used, said otherwise!

Kasi gasped in outrage! Brian pushed his chair back so quickly, it fell over with a crash! Kasi watched his rapidly departing back. Turning angry eyes on Taker, she told him in no uncertain words what she thought of him! Then Kasi ran after Brian!

She caught up with him in his room, angrily packing his belongings. He threw her a disgusted look, when she called his name.

"Brian, NOTHING happened! I swear!" She was near to tears, her hands and voice trembled uncontrollably.

"Sorry, Babe! This is just too much of a coincidence!" He said coldly, angrily stuffing his belongings into a duffle.

"Brian, please! Believe me!" She pleaded tearfully.

"I left your pay, with enough to go home, on your night stand! This is over!" Brian's blue eyes and voice was cold as ice! Grabbing up his bags, he left the room, ignoring her tearful pleas.

She stared at the empty doorway. Brian had slammed the door back against the wall, knocking a hole in it. She stood there a few minutes, shocked, crying softly, her world crumbling at her feet! Finally, she went through the connecting door to her room, and saw the envelope lying on top of her nightstand. Kasi picked it up and looked inside. Brian had been most generous! Tears fell unnoticed as she sat down on the bed, dropping the envelope on the floor.

Taker made the mistake of trying to stop his angry cousin, as he started through the outside doors. Brian dropped his duffle, then dropped Taker with one punch! Taker was out cold, as Brian flew out of the parking lot, leaving skid marks behind.

A short time later, Kasi was on a plane, heading back to Nashville!

Kasi caught a ride out to Lee's school. She had left her truck parked there and needed to pick it up. The driver let her out in the back where she'd parked. The place looked deserted!

Stowing her bags inside her truck, Kasi stood there, looking at the place where all this had begun. Sighing, she walked over to the back door and let herself in.

The smell of leather, sweat and steam filled her senses! Kasi could almost feel Brian's strong presence as she looked about the familiar surroundings. She almost expected to see him come striding toward her, from his office, a look of annoyance on his handsome face over some misdeed of hers. Tears fell unnoticed as she slowly made her way over to his office. She was startled to find Tony there!

"I'm sorry to intrude! I wasn't aware anyone was here." Kasi stammered, blushing faintly, while rummaging through her purse, obviously looking for something. She withdrew an envelope and handed it and a key to the silent man. "Ahmm, please make sure Brian gets these, and give him this letter for me, as well. He should be back in a couple of days." She handed him a second sealed envelope.

Tony could see the hurt in her eyes, and wondered what had happened. He could see that she was fighting to keep the tears from falling. Taking the envelopes and key, Tony turned away as he put them in the top drawer of Brian's desk. When he looked back in her direction, he saw Kasi hurrying through the empty building, headed toward the back door. What ever had happened between those two, must have been pretty bad! Sighing, Tony couldn't help but think Brian had lost the best thing to come into his life, in some time!

Kasi drove back home, FINALLY letting the tears fall. The trip home was a long one with Kasi dreading facing Mack! He was going to be hurt by what she had to tell him, but she was going to change the format of her book, and he would know by that, that she had given her heart to Brian Lee!

Pulling into the driveway of the duplex she called home, Kasi sat behind the wheel of her truck, not having the energy to get out and go inside. Sighing tiredly, the depressed woman slowly got out of her vehicle, collected her belongings and went inside the house.

Dropping her bags by the door, Kasi stepped into the living room and sank down into the recliner. What was she going to do? What would Brian do? Would he ever forgive her?

Dragging herself up, she reluctantly checked the messages on her answering machine, finding two from Mack, and about 15 from various others. Nothing at all from Brian. But had she really expected there to be one?

Picking up the phone, she might as well get this over with!

"Mack! Hi! Yeah, I'm home! Just got in, as a matter of fact! AND! I'm home for good! But there's one thing! I am going to change the format of my book! I'm going to make it a romance novel, instead! It'll take about four weeks, but since the finished manuscript hasn't been submitted, this shouldn't be a problem!" Kasi's quiet, strained voice told Mack something more was troubling her. He had a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, that she had fallen in love with the man.

"Well, whenever you finish it, just give me a holler!" Mack said. No hint of the pain he felt could be heard in his hushed tones. "Kasi..., if you need to talk, I'm here." He knew she was lost to him forever!

Tears began to fall unheeded as she gripped the phone! "I'll call you later! OH! And, a, Mack! I'm gonna be busy working for the next couple of weeks, but I'll call you soon! I promise!" Then she hung up the phone, sat down and had herself a good cry.

Taker caught up with Brian a couple of weeks later. He was getting ready for his match against Bigelow, and after throwing his cousin a murderous glare, proceeded to ignore the other man!

"Brian, we need to talk!" The serious tone, no hello, and the look in those green eyes, let Brian know just how determined Taker was to have his say.

After glancing up once, Brian just sat there. Finally, he went back to lacing up his boots. "After the match!" He said tightly, his baby blues freezing.

With the briefest of nods, Taker turned on his heels, and left the dressing room! He would wait for his cousin outside!

Brian found Taker leaning against a sporty black pick-up. He was talking to one of the other wrestlers that they both grew up with. Taker glanced over and met Brian's cold blue glare! Frowning, Taker told the man he was talking to, to call him later in the week. As the guy walked away, Taker watched as Brian approached him. Taker had parked behind Brian's vehicle!

Brian opened the hatch of his SUV and threw his bag inside. In the foggy darkness, his thoughts turned to Kasi, and the last time he had seen her. She had been with his cousin most of the afternoon before! Brian's generous lips thinned to a grim, angry line, at the memory!

Taker read his cousin correctly, and knew his thoughts were on Kasi, and the last time the three of them had been together. And THAT was why he was here!

"Let's get a drink! We need to talk, but not here!" The deep, gruff voice angered Brian almost as much as the smug look in the other man's eyes had that morning several weeks ago!

With an abrupt nod of his head, Brian walked around and climbed in behind the wheel of his SUV. Glancing in his rear view mirror, Brian saw his cousin doing the same.

They were seated at a table in the back of the bar at the hotel where Brian was staying. Each man sipped on a beer. Taker studied his cousin closely for several moments, before speaking.

"I owe you and Kasi an apology! I didn't realize just how deep the feelings were. Nothing happened between us that day! I DID ask her to have dinner with me, but she said no! For the trouble I caused you two, I'm sorry!" Taker's sincerity was genuine! But Brian was still angry over Kasi's actions.

Taking a sip of his beer, Brian looked down at the moisture ring left on the table, from his glass. "Well, I'm afraid this all comes a little too late! She's gone home, as I'm sure you already know!" Brian's tone was reserved, cool as a matter of fact!

Grinning in spite of it all, Taker watched his cousin. He loved the woman! "Yes, I did! I made it a point to check into it!"

Brian started to speak, but thought better of it. After all, Taker was trying to be civil about this! "Why? Why did you check into it?" He demanded!

"Because we needed to have this talk!" Taker said, sipping on his brew.

Brian could only stare at his cousin. Taker saw the look and threw back his head roaring with laughter.

"Cousin, you need to call that little lady! You need to patch things up with her!" Taker's amused look brought a surprised look to Brian's face. He couldn't believe Taker was giving him advice about affairs of the heart.
