Kane continued to grin at Taker in amusement as the big man paced the small dressing room. "What the hell is your problem?" Taker growled after having glanced at Kane and seeing the look on his face.

Kane had a good-natured laugh at Taker’s expense. "Ya big dead goof! That ‘man’ happens to be the nanny that Judy hired to help her out with the twins after she was released from the hospital." Kane shared the information that Kali had told him a few weeks ago.

"Besides after all the shit you’ve brought down on her, I wouldn’t blame the lady one bit if she did have another man. Like she’s going to want you back, Taker." Kane told Taker. Although it was harsh, it was his honest opinion.

Taker sighed deeply as he ran his fingers through his long hair, knowing just how right Kane was. He had treated Judy like shit and she would probably never want anything to do with him again, outside of their children. He again silently chastised himself for being so damn stupid.

Kane’s voice broke him out of his thoughts. "Come on, Man. It’s match time." He said as he pulled his mask on over his face and headed out of the locker room door to the arena entrance. Taker sighed again in frustration as he followed his friend out the door.

*****

Judy smiled happily as she hung up the phone and turned around to Brent. "That was Kali. Her flight just landed and she should be here within the hour."

"Great! After all you’ve told me of her, I’m anxious to meet her." Brent replied as he took in her features. He loved how she looked when she smiled. That was one of the things he would miss the most when his time with her and the baby’s was up in just under two weeks.

Judy met his eyes and felt her cheeks burn. She knew he was attracted to her. That very thought made her heart speed up considerably. Damned if she wasn’t more than a little attracted to him as well.

She looked away, finally breaking eye contact with him before she became lost completely. "I’m going to go take a shower before Kali gets here." She excused herself and then turned and walked to her room on legs that were threatening to buckle. She could still feel his hot gaze on her as she left.

Kali arrived a little sooner than expected and Judy was still in her room getting dressed after a long, relaxing shower. A wicked grin spread across her lips when she heard the door bell ring.

"Can you get that, Brent?" Judy asked as she tried to imagine Kali’s reaction to him would be. Judy knew that the look on her friend’s face would be priceless.

Kali was about to ring the bell for a second time when the door suddenly opened. She shifted the packages she had in her arms for Kaitlyn and Morgan and then looked up. She promptly dropped the gifts that she held when her eyes touched on the gorgeous man standing before her.

Brent laughed softly as he bent down and helped her pick up the things she had dropped. "You must be Kali." He said as he straightened back up and smiled down at her.

"Uh….Yeah." Kali finally managed to choke the words out. She blushed deeply as she continued to stare up at him with wide eyes and feeling like a complete fool. She wished Judy had given her some sort of warning about this, although it didn’t surprise her that she hadn’t.

"Please, come on in. I know Judy is anxious to see you." Brent said, still smiling as he stepped aside to allow her past. "Make yourself at home. She should be out any second now." He added as he set down the gifts that Kali had brought and then went into the kitchen to get some refreshments.

Kali went into the living room to wait for Judy. She sat down on the couch with a weary sigh, exhausted from the hectic schedule they had been keeping over the last few weeks.. Even though she already missed Kane like crazy, she had to admit that it was good to get away at the same time. She had originally planned to stay with Judy for three days, but had decided to surprise Kane and come back a day early after having found out what she had the previous day. She and Kane were going to have a baby. Not only could she barely wait to tell her husband the good news, she was dying to tell Judy as well. This thought brought a smile to her face.

"What are you smiling about?" Kali heard a voice ask and was jarred out of her thoughts. She looked up to see that Judy, along with the twins had come into the room.

Kali looked at her friend with eyes that shined with pure happiness. "Give me one of those baby’s and then sit down. I’ve got something to tell you."

Judy eyed Kali curiously as she handed Kaitlyn to her. Then she settled into a nearby chair with Morgan and looked at Kali expectantly.

"Well, as you know, I had planned to stay for three days, but I’ve decided to join Kane a day early in Vegas. Kali explained and then paused. She looked down at Kaitlyn and was awed by the beautiful little girl. A soft smile curved her lips as she thought of what it would be like to have a baby of her own.

Judy didn’t miss the expression on Kali’s face and by time she looked up again, Judy had guessed her secret.

"Well, congratulations!" Judy exclaimed as she got up and hugged her friend tight. She was truly happy for Kali and Kane.

"How far are you?" She asked, glad that their children would be so close together in age.

"About two months. I’ve never been so happy before in my life. Kane is going to be ecstatic too, I think. We’ve been trying for a little while now." Kali answered.

"I’m so happy for both of you. I know you and Kane are going to be great parents." Judy replied and then smiled at the curious look that had entered Kali’s eyes. She knew what was coming next.

"Now, who is that good-looking man in your kitchen?" Kali questioned and then laughed. "You could have warned me about him, you know. I made a huge fool out of myself."

"I’m sorry I forgot my manners earlier. I’m Brent." A deep voice answered before Judy had a chance to answer Kali’s question. "I’m the nanny that Judy hired to help out with the twins." He continued to explain as he watched Kali’s cheeks turn red yet again. She knew he’d heard what she had just said.

Judy was amused by Kali’s reaction to Brent. Her own reaction the first time she had seen him had been much the same.

"Would you care from some iced tea?" Brent asked both women. He’d brought in two tall glasses with him, somehow knowing that they would.

"Thanks. That would be great." Kali answered as she leaned forward and took one of the glasses from him. She was impressed by Brent and immediately knew why Judy had chosen him over anyone else.

"I want all the details later." Kali said to Judy after Brent had gone back into the kitchen to prepare dinner. "But for now, I’m going to go lie down for a while. I’m exhausted."

"I understand." Judy remembered well how tired she had been during her pregnancy, especially early on. "I’ll wake you for dinner." She added as Kali stood and gave little Kaitlyn back to her mother.

Judy frowned as she watched Kali walk to the back of the house where the guestrooms were located. She sat there rocking the twins as she thought about the dreams she’d been having lately. A part of her wanted to tell her friend of these dreams, yet at the same time she didn’t want to say anything. She sighed as she got up and placed her still sleeping baby’s in their bassinets.

*****

"You take care of yourself." Judy told Kali two days later as she got ready to leave. She’d had the same dream the night before and it was on the tip of her tongue to mention it to Kali, but at the last moment, she decided against it!

"You take care too. And make sure those little sweeties get lots of hugs and kisses for me every day." Kali said as she hugged her friend. She had thoroughly enjoyed the last couple of days with Judy and was sad to be leaving so soon. But at the same time she was anxious to get back to her husband and tell him the news.

"I should be able to get back in a month or so." She added before she kissed the cheeks of the twins that she considered her niece and nephew. Then after saying ‘good-bye’ once again, she turned and went to her rental car. Minutes later she was well on her way to the airport and back to Kane.

*****

"Come on, Kane!" Taker said to Kane after he had pulled his hotel room door open when Taker had knocked on it. "Neither you or I have to work tonight. Let’s go down and have a drink or five."

Kane hesitated for a moment. "Well, I’m waiting for Kali to call…" He began to explain, but stopped when Taker cut him off.

"Man, you really are whipped, aren’t you?" Taker’s voice was full of sarcasm and he had a smirk on his face as he said this.

Kane got a smirk of his own on his face as he looked at Taker for a moment. "Man, you don’t know shit!" Kane growled his reply. There were really a lot of things about him that Taker didn’t know. There were a lot of things that Kali didn’t know either. "I just have to keep the woman happy. It has nothing to do with being whipped." Kane added, somewhat surprising Taker with the words he spoke as he moved Taker aside and stepped through the door.

Three hours and six Velvet/Cokes later, both Taker and Kane were pleasantly drunk. Both, however still knew what was happening when two women approached them as they left the bar.

*****

Kali smiled happily as she entered the hotel in Las Vegas that Kane was staying at. The flight had seemed to take an eternity and now she could barely wait to see her husband. After finding out his room number, and easily bribing a key from the male desk attendant, she headed towards the elevators. She was stopped just before reaching them when she heard someone calling her name. Turning around, she saw Chris Jericho coming toward her.

"Hey Chris!" She greeted the man who she had become a close friend with during her time spent on the road with Kane. "What’s up, baby?" She asked using the pet name they had for each other.

Chris smiled down at her, realizing that even though she had only been away for a couple of days, he had missed her like crazy. "You’re back a day early. I just wanted to make sure that everything was all right." His concern was genuine as he looked down at her.

"Yes, everything is wonderful. And although I hate to cut this short, I really need to go see Kane. I’ll talk to you tomorrow"

"I understand. I have to get going myself too. I have an early flight tomorrow morning and would love to get some sleep for once. I’ll catch you tomorrow." Chris said as he leaned forward and kissed her cheek. Then he turned and was gone.

Minutes later, Kali stepped off of the elevator and made her way to Kane’s room. She had just slipped the key-card into the lock when her hand was jerked roughly away. She quickly spun around to find that Taker had caused the interruption. She hadn’t even heard him approaching.

"What the fuck do you want?" She demanded to know while she desperately tried to keep her temper under control.

"I wouldn’t go in there if I were you. I don’t think you’ll like what you see." He told her as he stepped around her, blocking her path to the door.

"What in the hell are you talking about, Taker!" Kali demanded to know, but didn’t bother to wait for his answer.

"Get out of my way or I’ll move you myself." She warned him.

Taker only laughed at her threat. There was no way possible that this little woman could move him! He quickly found out exactly what she was talking about when she lifted her knee and hit her intended target hard. Taker cussed loudly and fell to his knees.

"I told you to get the fuck out of my way." Kali said to him in a quiet voice and then without a second thought, she kicked him once more. "That one is for Judy, you bastard!"

Kali glared down at him for a moment before she slipped the key into the lock once again. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she stepped into the room and waited for her eyes to adjust to the dark before she went any further. Once in the room itself, she could make out Kane’s sleeping form on the bed, but something didn’t quite seem right. It was then that he shifted in his sleep and Kali saw that he was not alone.

Walking over to the side of the bed, she switched on the light, thinking that maybe her mind had been playing tricks on her. It hadn’t been. She choked back a sob and took a deep breath to try to keep her composure the best she could. Then she walked over to the other side of the bed where Kane was still deep asleep and completely unaware of her presence. Bending down, she whispered in his ear.

"Wake up, you sorry son of a bitch!" Then she slapped him hard across the face.

Kane jerked upright, suddenly very wide-awake. He didn’t say anything or even move. He could only sit there and stare at her in shock. Then his whore also came awake and glared at Kali through narrowed eyes.

"Who the hell are you?" She asked in a cold voice.

Kali glanced over at Kane and then back at the woman and was unable to hold back her tears any longer. "Until about two minutes ago, he was my husband. But you can have him now. I don’t want him anymore." She answered as she removed the wedding rings from her finger and tossed them at Kane. He was still in shock and didn’t even flinch.

Then without another word or backward glance, she turned and headed for the door, knowing that it was over. There were a lot of things that she could tolerate, but infidelity wasn’t one of them.

~Chapter 29!~Judy

Kali walked right passed Taker. He smirked at her, knowing full well what she saw in Kane's room. Tears filled her eyes as she hurried down the carpeted hall way to the elevators. She was so upset, she hadn't even noticed Taker standing near the drink machine.

Kali stopped in front of the elevators and punched the button. Shifting her bag to her right hand, she looked up at the ceiling, wondering what had made Kane want to hurt her this way! He didn't know about the baby, and at this point, she wasn't so sure he was going to! Finally, the damn elevator arrived. As she turned, and faced the front of the car, Kali saw Taker grinning at her smugly! How she hated him for what he had caused! She stared back coldly. Putting out his hand, he stopped the doors from closing.

"Leaving so soon?" He asked sarcastically, his green eyes shined brightly, a smug, satisfied smirk touched his full lips. He hadn't forgiven her for kicking him in the balls! The bitch NEEDED to be brought down a peg or two!

"You insufferable BASTARD! I don't blame Judy for choosing Brent over you! At least he treats her decent!" Kali's cold stare and quietly spoken words cut him more than he let on! Without another glance at him, she pushed the button closing the doors and taking her to the lobby.

She left a message for Mr. McMahon, telling him something had come up and she would be gone for several weeks, but would send the final drafts of her work to him in a couple of days. She included a number where she could be reached. Kali asked the desk clerk to see that it was delivered, then asked him to call her a cab.

While she was waiting for the taxi, Chris Jericho came up behind her.

"You leaving again so soon?" He asked. His sharp blue eyes taking in the tear stained, swollen eyes, and knew the cause. He had seen Kane and Taker leaving the bar earlier, with those two ring rats.

"I'm going back to my friend's house in North Carolina." Her strained voice tugged at his heart, as did the look of pain in her eyes.

"You ok?" He asked softly, his eyes searching her face closely as he gently touched her cheek.

"I will be! Oh! Here's my cab. I'll see you later!" Then surprised herself as much as him, by kissing him quickly on the mouth! Jericho stared after her as she closed the door and the cab drove off!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Of course you can stay with me! You know I have more than enough room! Besides, I've missed your company!" Judy said with false cheerfulness! Her worried gaze met Brent's curious one. He mouthed the words "She Ok?" Judy shook her head no!
The two women talked a few minutes longer, then they hung up. Judy told Brent that Kali would be staying with them a while. "I'd better get the guest room made up. She'll be here shortly." She left him mixing up the twins formula.
Judy made up the room across the hall from her own. She put fresh sheets on the bed, and placed scented candles about the room. After placing fresh towels and little fancy shaped soaps in the bathroom, Judy opened the window to let in some fresh air. Next to her own, this was the nicest bedroom in the huge house.
The twins slept in the room connected to Judy's. She had part of the wall knocked out and tri-fold doors put up. At night, she left them open so she could hear them, if they woke up. Lately, they had been sleeping nearly the whole night through.
Kali arrived about thirty minutes later. Brent took her bags, and made himself scarce so they could talk. The twins had just been laid down for the night, so they would be able to talk undisturbed. Judy was worried about her friend. She had left a mere eight hours ago, on her way to tell Kane she was pregnant! Now, not even 9:00 p.m, she was back and in tears! Judy suspected Kali had found Kane with another woman!
"And if that wasn't enough, his whore had the GALL to ask who I was! I took off my rings and threw them in his face! I will not tolerate infidelity!" Kali finished miserably, staring down into her coffee cup. Dry eyed now, her pain was quite obvious! Judy remained quiet, feeling that pain as if it were her own.
"Are you hungry?" Judy bet she hadn't eaten since breakfast.
Kali didn't answer right away, and when she did, a huge grin curved her lips. "I'm starving! What have you got?"
Judy laughed heartily, remembering her own hearty appetite. "Brent and I had beef stir-fry for dinner, and there's some chicken salad and an assortment of sandwich stuff in there."
Opening the fridge, they pulled out the chicken salad, a jar of sweet pickles, a jar of olives, and a head of lettuce, then got out a loaf of wheat bread. On second thought, Judy took a hunk of cheddar cheese from the fridge, then got out a box of snack crackers. Kali was busily making sandwiches, as Judy sat out the cheese and crackers. Next, Judy poured them each a big glass of milk. Between them, they had enough food out to feed several more people. They laughed and gorged themselves on the late night feast!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kali hadn't answered any of the calls from Kane. She couldn't bring herself to talk to him just yet! Kali faxed the finished drafts to the hotel in Boston where the WWF would be staying that night and the next. She looked around Judy's home office when she was finished, and had to admit she was impressed. Any piece of equipment needed was found there. Judy even had a drafting table there!

Judy had taken classes in residential drafting, and now, she not only SOLD houses, but drew up the BLUEPRINTS, as well! Her talents were in such demand, that Judy would NEVER have to depend on someone else to make a living for her. She was perfectly capable of supporting herself and the twins, very comfortably. Kali hadn't realized just how talented Judy was, and had to admit her friend's accomplishments impressed the HELL out of her!

Sitting behind the antique cherry desk, Kali looked around the re-decorated den. Judy had chosen a Victorian theme for her home office, very tasteful, and very feminine! The walls were papered in an off white with tiny little rose buds. Opposite the desk, was a Burgundy velvet love seat. A marble top table of the same cherry wood, sat beside it in the corner. A Victorian parlor lamp graced the top of the table. A beautiful deep rose and navy oriental rug covered the floor. Kali knew the rug alone cost more than she had spent on rent on her apartment back home in Minnesota.

"I take it, you approve?" Judy asked leaning against the door frame, arms crossed, smiling at her friend.

"This room is beautiful! Yes, I do approve!" Kali smiled back as she got up and walked over to the huge bay window that allowed the sun to light up the room.

Judy laughed, pleased with Kali's approval. She joined her at the window. The view before them was amazing. Off to the left the mountains were visible, and off to the right, just barely visible through the trees, a small pond could JUST be glimpsed. Judy didn't have any REALLY close neighbors, and had bought the acreage between her and the main road, just to the right of the house, to guarantee her privacy.

"I spend more time here working than I do in the office! I wanted it to be as comfortable as possible and yet still be efficient. I think this is my favorite room in the whole house!" She was filled with pride as she looked about the room. A delicate crystal vase filled with tulips and roses graced the table near the window. Fresh flowers or plants, were placed in every room of the house!

"Well, I'm jealous! I had no idea you were in such demand!" Kali declared, pouting slightly. She almost felt sorry for Judy! With her busy work schedule, when did she EVER find time for herself?

"It's hard sometimes...specially the deadlines! One of the local contractors that I work with, tends to be a MAJOR pain in the ass, but he pays better than most and makes me really dig deep to meet his demands. And so far, I've been able to satisfy him with my plans! If you'd like, I'll introduce you to him." They had left the office and were heading toward the kitchen.

The women were going into town and do some shopping and catch a movie. Brent had just got back. He'd had the last three days off, and had gone to visit his family. The twins were sleeping, and Brent thought an afternoon spent out of the house would be good for her! She hadn't left the house since she came home with the twins five weeks ago.

"Brent, we will be having dinner in town, so don't worry about fixing anything special. Can I get you anything? Do you need anything while we're in town?" She asked, finding it hard to meet his eyes. Kali didn't miss the faint blush or the nervous chatter whenever he happened to be around.

"No, thanks anyway! You two enjoy yourselves! The little guys will be fine! Go on, enjoy yourself!" Brent's eyes stayed on her, watching her nervous gestures, and knowing the cause of them.

"AHMMM...A.... ok! We'll see you later, then!" Judy picked up her purse and keys as the two women headed out the back door!

As they got into Judy's blue Lincoln, the same car she had when she moved here, Kali couldn't help but laugh at her friend.

"When are you gonna sleep with that man? Hell, you both want to!" Kali asked, grinning as she buckled her seat belt.

Judy flamed bright red! Her eyes widened in astonished surprise as she stammered to reply.

"WHAT!....I don't....I can't believe....DAMN KALI!" Judy couldn't even meet Kali's amused gaze! It took three tries before Judy was able to get the key in the ignition. Finally, she was able to back the big car down the drive, still unable to meet Kali's eyes.

Judy and Kali had spent a small fortune on clothes, took in a movie, then stopped and had a bite to eat, before going home. By the time they finally pulled into the driveway, it was nearly midnight!

Pleading exhaustion, Kali hugged her, wished her a goodnight, and went to bed. Judy entered her own room, smiling faintly. After setting her bags aside, she went into the twins room to check on them. Brent was in with them changing diapers. He glanced up when she came in to the room.

She smiled in greeting as she helped him. Picking up a bottle, she took Kaitlyn and sat down in one of the rockers, as she fed the tiny girl. She couldn't get over how much they had grown in the last few weeks, how much they had changed. Kaitlyn was going to look like her, while Morgan looked more and more like his father. He was already longer than his sister.

Love for them softened her eyes and swelled her heart! She couldn't wait to see how their new outfits would look on them. Finally, Kaitlyn finished her bottle and was asleep before Judy even burped her. Humming softly as she laid the sleeping baby back in the crib, Judy stood there smiling gently as she watched her baby sleep!

Brent placed Morgan back in his crib, then watched Judy. GOD! She was lovely! Unable to help himself, Brent found himself standing beside her. He breathed in the smell of her. Reaching out, he lifted one heavy curl, inhaling the fragrant scent of her shampoo. Judy was unable to move, unable to breathe properly! She was acutely aware of his closeness. His very masculine nearness! Her hands trembled as she gripped the railing of the crib. Her eyes closed as her knees threatened to buckle, so great was her desire for this man!

Groaning softly, Brent dropped his hand and quickly left the room! What the hell was he doing, anyway? She was his employer! She was ALSO a damned desirable woman! And it was too soon for her to be having sex!

Brent made his way down the stairs to his room! It was going to be a long night, he thought, as he headed straight for the bathroom, stopping only long enough to kick off his shoes as he stepped in to the shower. He turned the cold water on full force, standing under the frigid spray fully dressed. He held his head down allowing the cold water to beat down over his hot body. Slowly, too slowly, the fire gradually left his body. Only when he was absolutely freezing, did he turn off the water and step out of the shower. Never had a woman affected him to this degree!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kali tossed and turned, plagued by dreams of Kane and his whore! She woke up whimpering in pain, her face wet with tears! Swinging her long legs over the side of the bed, she cried till all the tears were gone. Why did he want to hurt her, to betray her, to break their wedding vows! Finally, Kali got up and went downstairs for something to drink.
She had just sat down at the table with a glass of juice when Brent appeared.
"You ok? Can I get you something?" He asked, concerned about her tear streaked face and swollen eyes. Brent had helped himself to a glass of juice and took the chair next to hers.
Kali was embarrassed at being caught in a tee-shirt and boxers. Casting sideways glances in his direction, he didn't seem to notice her attire as he sipped his juice. She relaxed as she picked up her glass.
"Wanna talk about it?" He asked quietly, watching her closely as he took another sip from his glass.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and before she knew it, was spilling the whole thing to him! She talked nearly twenty minutes before finally falling silent!
"Do you love him?" He asked softly.
"Yes! I do! I love him with all my heart!" She whispered raggedly, unable to meet his eyes.
"What do you want to do?" He watched her closely.
"I don't know! I can't trust him now, and I won't live with someone I don't trust!" Her tears had dried. Now she only felt anger!
Brent knew when her feelings turned to anger. He smiled to himself, knowing this was the first step to healing the hurt she felt. He sincerely hoped divorce wasn't an option.
"Well, you don't need a scum bag like him, anyway!" He drawled, his amused eyes never left her face. The slightest of smiles curved his lips as he watched her outrage surface.
"He is NOT a scum bag! Taker is a scum bag, and I'd bet money that asshole is behind this somehow!" Kali's eyes blazed bright blue as she defended her husband to this man!
"But that doesn't excuse what he did!" He said rationally.
She sagged in her chair, feeling totally defeated. "I know! But what should I do?" She asked miserably.
"First, you should talk to him! Next time he calls, talk to the man!" Brent suggested reasonably.
She thought about what he said, and decided he was right. It was time to talk to Kane! Besides, she still hadn't told him about the baby! Kali was suddenly very tired. Yawning a jaw cracking yawn, she excused herself and went back to bed.
Brent sat there till he finished his juice. After rinsing out the glasses and turning them upside down in the sink, he, too, went back to bed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning found one rather sleepy adult and two very hungry babies making their way to the kitchen. Judy placed each baby in it's own carrier, then made a pot of coffee. She took their bottles from the fridge, and after warming them fed each of the babies. Judy made baby talk to them, and it seemed to her, that they knew exactly what she was saying to them, as they cooed and gooed back to her.

By the time the other two came down, she already had the twins fed, and breakfast was almost ready.

"Well, good morning you two!" She said brightly.

Kali still had on the same tee-shirt and boxers she had slept in. Brent was wearing his pajama bottoms and baggy tee-shirt. Both ignored her till they had their second cup of coffee.

In very short order, she had breakfast ready. Judy had really gotten in to this cooking thing.

"Well, come on you two! Let's eat!" She said.

At the mention of food, a look of horror crossed Kali's features. Brent's stomach rumbled loudly, as he walked over and took a seat. Flashing a brilliant grin, he piled his plate high and dug in. Kali found some saltines and nibbled on them till the nausea passed. Only then was she able to face the mountain of food Judy had prepared. Kali suddenly felt ravenous!

Judy watched, smiling slightly as her two friends devoured their breakfasts. She had a bowl of sweetened oatmeal, that she was giving tiny tastes of to the babies. They obviously loved it, judging by all the smacking they did. She laughed delightedly at their actions! They reminded her of baby birds, waiting for another worm from momma bird.

Kali watched their play, a soft wistful look on her face. She had a misty look in her eyes! At that moment, the phone rang, and Kali KNEW it was Kane, even before she got up to answer it.

"Hello! Oh, Kane! Just a minute!" Kali excused herself and carrying the cordless phone, left the kitchen.

"Babe, please don't hang up on me! May I come down there and see you? We need to talk!" It was killing him that she left the way she did! He was a thousand kinds of a damn fool for allowing Taker to goad him in to getting drunk, then leaving with that whore! Why had he let himself get set up that way? He had a death grip on the phone, praying she would be willing to see him!

"Yes, I think you should! There's something I need to tell you! But not on the phone!" She said quietly!

"Kali....I'm sorry! I was a fool! Please forgive me!" Kane began...trying to apologize. She cut him off short!

"Not now Kane! Not on the phone! We'll talk when you get here!" Her sharp words let him know just how badly he had hurt her!

"Alright! I can accept that! I'll be arriving at 6:30 your time! Can you pick me up at the airport?" He asked quietly, his voice filled with regret over his own foolish actions.

"Yes, I'll pick you up!" Kali replied in a whisper.

"I'll see you then!" He said, then hung up.

She stared down at the phone, tears streaming down her face. What the hell was she going to do?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 30!~Kaliegh!
Kali was on edge the rest of the day after talking with Kane. She had gone over everything time and time again n her mind and still didn’t have the slightest idea what she was going to do. She supposed she wouldn’t know either until she did talk to him and heard what he had to say. The one thing she did know was that she did love Kane, but never before had she been betrayed in such a way.
"Have you made any kind of decision concerning this?" Judy asked as she and Kali cleaned up the kitchen after lunch that day. She was concerned for her friend, who had not touched a bite of her lunch and hadn’t spoken much at all since the phone call from Kane. Her colorless complexion and the dark smudges underneath her eyes told Judy the toll the last few days had taken on Kali.
"No. How can I?" Kali answered as she tool a cigarette from her purse and went outside through the patio doors that were located just off of the kitchen. Knowing that the twin’s would be fine in Brent’s care, Judy followed her out.
"I don’t want to just throw away this marriage." Kali continued after she’d lit her cigarette and sat down wearily in one of the lawn chairs. "I still love Kane and now I am not just making decisions for myself, but I have to think of what is best for the baby as well. But I know I’m not going to be able to trust him after what has happened. And if we are able to work things out, I have to wonder if this will always be hanging over us and if I will in some way always hold it against him. What if he does it again? Or what if this isn’t the first time he’s…." Kali trailed off as tears filled her eyes yet again. She rested her head in her hands as it began to pound and wondered when the tears would stop and when the ache in her heart would go away. She wondered when the nightmare was going to end.
Judy knew all too well the pain that Kali felt and tried to comfort her the best she could. She hoped that in the end, everything would turn out for the best.
******
Kali paced back and forth at the gate where Kane’s flight would be coming in. When she finally heard that his flight had landed, so many different emotions raced through her. She stood back as passengers began coming into the terminal, and then she saw him. For a moment she completely forgot about everything that had happened and felt nothing but happy to see her husband. Then as she began walking toward him, images of what she had saw the last time she had seen him flashed through her mind and she stopped dead in her tracks.
Kane had been worried that Kali wouldn’t be there and felt his heart soar when he first saw her. Then he felt his heart drop when he looked closer and really saw her. It was at that moment that he knew just how deeply he had hurt her. He knew that he would never be able to forgive himself for being such a fool.
Kali felt her stomach turn as Kane now stood in front of her. No matter how hard she tried, she could not get seeing Kane and that whore out of her mind, and when Kane stepped forward to take her into his arms, Kali quickly moved back out of his reach. Kane looked at her and was shocked by the cold, hurt filled eyes that were staring back at him. It was unsettling for him to know that he was the cause of this.
"Kali. Please….I’m so sorry…." Kane tried desperately to apologize, but he quickly stopped when he saw the flash of anger and pain in her blue eyes as she turned and began walking away.
Kane felt tears stinging his eyes as he followed her quickly retreating form. He loved her so much….More than he had ever loved anyone or anything in his life, and he had betrayed her in one of the worst ways a man could ever betray a woman. He prayed that by some miracle, Kali would forgive him.
He finally caught up with her again out in the parking lot where she had left her rental car in the short term parking area. Kane felt a small sense of hope when he saw that she had not left, but waited for him instead. This told him that she did want to try to work through this. He only hoped she would feel the same way after he had come completely clean with her.
Kali said nothing, nor did she look at him as she drove until came to a small park located across from one of the two city’s hospitals. She had remembered seeing it there when Judy had been in the hospital having the twins. When she got out of the car, Kane got out as well. She had every intention to tell him first about the baby, but her emotions took over and instead she questioned him about what had taken place.
"How did this happen, Kane?" She asked. Her voice trembled miserably and her eyes reflected the hurt and pain she was feeling.
Kane let out the breath that he had been holding as he ran his fingers through his long hair. "It was nothing but plain stupidity on my part. It should have never happened, and it would have never happened if I hadn’t allowed myself to be set up by Taker. I was drunk and…" Kane had begun to explain but Kali stopped him short.
"You were drunk! That is your excuse?" She fairly yelled at him, her voice rising hysterically. "I’m sorry Kane, but that is no fucking excuse!" She looked down at the ground and had to lean against the car as she began to feel light-headed.
"I’m so sorry, Kal. I know I’ve hurt you terribly and I can understand if you never want to see me again. But please, please give me another chance. You are the one that I love and the only one that I want to be with." Kane pleaded to her, knowing he could never imagine life without her. He watched her closely, noticing how pale she had become.
"Are you okay?" Kane asked as a chill ran up his spine and he suddenly became very concerned for her.
"Yeah, I’m fine." She answered a little breathlessly as a slight cramp like pain clamped down on her. She took in a deep breath and waited until it passed before speaking again.
"Kane, some how I believe you when you say that you love me and that you didn’t mean to hurt me like this. I also believe you when you say that something like this will never happen again. But that still does not take away the fact that it did happen, and before I can even think about making any kind of decision concerning our future, there is one thing I need to know."
Kali paused as another cramp tightened her midsection. This one felt stronger than the first and it had Kali a little bit worried. She closed her eyes as the pain slowly faded and another wave of dizziness washed over her.
Kane watched her, his worry for her growing stronger with each passing second. "Kal? Are you sure you’re okay?" He asked once again.
By then the dizziness had passed. Kali opened her eyes and looked up at Kane. "Yeah, I think so….Kane, there’s something I need to know." She wasn’t really sure if she was okay, but she pressed forward. The need to know the truth had almost become like an obsession.
Kane held his breath as he waited for her to continue. He knew what was coming next and he knew he had to be honest with her if they were to have any chance at all in the future.
"Is this the first time this has happened? I have to know because unless you’ve been unfaithful all along, I can not for the life of me figure out why you would betray me like this. I thought you were happy with me…." Kaliegh trailed off as Kane lowered his head, unable to meet her sad, questioning eyes any longer. It was then that Kali had her answer.
"When was the first time?" She asked in a voice that trembled as much as the rest of her body. She couldn’t believe this was happening to her. She had been so sure that Kane would never do anything to hurt her. Now she felt like her whole world was crashing in on her.
"It was right before you were hit by that car…" Kane answered quietly. He paused for a moment and then opened his mouth to continue, but Kali cut him off once again.
"Before this time, when was the last time?" Kali demanded to know. She didn’t know why, but she had to know.
"The day after we got back from Hawaii…When we got back to the hotel and Taker told you about the bet we had and you left. But Kal, you have to believe me when I tell you that it meant nothing and I ever meant for it to happen. You are the one I love. Kali, please…." Kane pleaded desperately only to be cut off sharply for the third time.
"Dammit Kane! The day after we got back from Hawaii!! The day after we got back from our honeymoon? How fucking low is that! You say that it meant nothing to you…I have to wonder if you’re talking about your affairs or our marriage!" Kali was thoroughly disgusted with him at that point. Her blue eyes were lit with fury as she continued.
"You stand there and say that you love me and yet you have been betraying me all along! How could you? What did I ever do to deserve this? Why would you want to do this to me and our…." Kali stopped suddenly and gasped as a horrible pain ripped through her. Kane watched all of the color leave her face and lunged forward as her eyes went back into her head. He barely caught her limp body just before she would have hit the ground.
Kane tried desperately to bring her back around, but after several minutes and still not getting any sort of response from her, he carefully placed her in the car and brought her to the near by hospital.
*****
Kane stood as the doctor in charge walked into the small waiting room almost two hours later. Kane shook his hand and then waited to hear what the doctor had to say about the condition of his wife.
"Well, I’m happy to report that Kali has awakened once again. It was rough for a little bit there, but she’ll be fine. She was having some contractions, but we’ve been giving her fluids in an IV and with the rest she’s gotten since arriving here, it looks like they’ve stopped again. We did a sonogram and the baby looks great. I am confident that everything will be fine. As far as what happened today….has she been under any stress or anything lately?"
Kane was completely speechless. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words would come out. He stood there staring at the doctor in shocked silence, not quite able to believe what he had just heard. They were going to have a baby....He had no idea until now....
"Has she been under a lot of stress recently?" The doctor asked again after failing to get an answer from Kane.
Kane quickly came back to his senses. "Yeah….Unfortunately she has been" He stated in a voice filled with regret over the events that had led up to this. And because of his own stupidity, not only had he hurt the only woman he ever really loved, but he had put their unborn child at risk as well. He felt like the biggest heel on the face of the earth.
~Chapter 31!~Judy
"So basically, what you're saying is, you USED these women, these fans that approached you hoping for an autograph or polite word,...you USED these women to fill in a few hours time and to win a stupid bet!" Judy's temper and disgust rapidly surfaced! Her agitation was so great she was nearly beside herself. Her right foot was rapidly tapping the floor with the force of her anger.
Kane felt like a total shit! He could not met Judy's eyes. Never had he felt so guilty in his life. He only prayed he could make it up to Kali, and maybe redeem himself in Judy's eyes! He didn't know what to say!
"And whose idea was this bet?" Judy asked coldly. She would BET MONEY that Taker was behind all this!
"It was X-Pac's idea, I believe! Taker was against it at first, participating reluctantly. Neither one of us actually wanted to get involved in this stupidity." Kane missed the surprise that widened her expressive blue eyes.
A few hours later,the doctor came out of Kali's room wearing a smile. He went straight to Kane.
"She's going to be alright! She needs to stay here for several days but both her and the baby are fine. She needs to avoid stress at all costs." The doctor looked at Kane and Judy.
"She'll come home with me!" Judy informed the two men! Kane and the doctor nodded in agreement!
Taker stepped off the elevator and looked around. Vince McMahon had sent a huge floral arrangement, after Taker informed him of Kali's condition. McMahon told Taker to tell Kane to take as long as he needed to. "Right now, his place is with his wife!" And since they were off the next two days, Taker decided to spend them with his children.
As the big man walked down the hall, he spotted Kane and Judy sitting together in the waiting room. Kane was listening to something Judy was saying, as Taker joined them. Kane glanced up and was surprised to see the big man standing there. Judy glanced up and could not prevent the thrill of excitement from racing through her veins.
Taker's eyes met and held hers, as he shook hands with Kane. His eyes never left hers as he passed along the message from their employer. Judy found it hard to breathe. She felt hot and cold all at the same time.
Kane watched their silent exchange, smiling to himself. These two had issues to settle and judging from her flushed face, Kane felt safe in saying Judy still cared for Taker. And from the look in his emerald eyes, Taker still wanted her. Kane left them alone, his departure notice by neither of the other two.
Judy broke free of that hypnotic gaze with some difficulty. Going over to the coffee pot, she poured herself a cup with hands that trembled visibly. Taker watched her, hands on hips, suddenly unsure how to proceed.
Judy stood with her back to him, looking out the huge window without really seeing the lights below. Trying desperately, she struggled to gain control of her emotions.
"I'd like to spend some time with the kids. I'm off the next two days, and with your permission, I'd like to see them." His soft, husky voice came from right behind her.
She felt him with every fiber of her being. His MAN smell assaulted her senses. The hard muscular feel of him surrounded her. Against her better judgment, she found herself agreeing , as memory of their last night together rushed over her. That night was seared in her memory forever, not only for the passion they shared, but because that was the night he learned of her pregnancy!
"You can stay at the house and spend all the time you want with them." She could have bitten off her tongue as soon as the words were spoken!
Taker smiled to himself, knowing what she was thinking. The same thing was going through his mind, as well! That last night they spent together had spooked him! Never had he known such satisfaction with a woman! The tender feeling toward her scared him more than he cared to admit, even to himself. Then, the next day Kane and Kali had gotten married. Taker had asked Judy to marry him later that evening, when they were finally alone. But she had lost her temper and threw him out of the house! He had to grin at that memory!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Judy had gone in to see Kali, only to find her fast asleep. Kane was sitting off in the corner watching over her. This whole ordeal had taken it's toll on him as well as Kali. His haggard appearance attested to that.

"Kane, I'm going home. Taker wants to spend some time with the babies while he's off, and I agreed to let him stay at the house. If you want, please come there and get some rest. I have more than enough room!" Judy said quietly. But he politely refused, saying he preferred to stay with Kali.

"Well, you're more than welcome to stay!" She hugged him, then left him alone with his wife.

Judy entered the big house through the back door. Taker was right behind her. Laying her keys and purse on the counter near the door, she told the big man to help himself to whatever was in the fridge, if he was hungry. "I'm going to let Brent know I'm home and to check on the babies!" Then she disappeared down the hall.

Taker rummaged through the well stocked fridge. Not especially hungry, he took out a bottle of beer, then sat down at the table. He had just sat the bottle down on the table when he happened to notice Brent standing in the doorway watching him. Anger narrowed his cold green eyes as he met those of the other man.

"I thought I heard Judy!" Brent said casually, walking over to get a drink of water. Turning back to face the big man, Brent couldn't help but wonder what was going on!

"She's checking on the babies! Oh, and I'm staying for a couple of days!" Taker's equally casual tone betrayed nothing to the other man.

Brent was nearly Taker's equal in size and looks. He was a mere few inches shorter than the big man, and several pounds lighter, but even so, Brent was not the least bit intimidated by the twins father.

So much for what he had hoped would happen tonight! Brent realized at that moment that Judy would never be anything more than a friend. As he eyed this man before him, he knew Taker would always hold a place in her heart, one that Brent could never occupy. This thought saddened him, but not as much as he might have imagined. Brent wished her well, and at that moment, Judy entered the kitchen.

Glancing curiously at both men, she wondered what they had been talking about. Brent's expression was unreadable while Taker wore a smug look that made her tighten her mouth. Taking a glass out of the cabinet, Judy poured herself some juice and sat down at the counter, well away from both of them.

"Well...I'll see you in the morning! By the way...how's Kali?" Brent asked as he stopped at the doorway.

"She's gonna have to stay in the hospital for a few days, but then she's coming here!" Judy was exhausted and it showed. Brent nodded, then once again said goodnight.

Taker had finished his beer and was leaning back in his chair. He had watched the way Brent looked at Judy, and one thing was abundantly clear, Brent wanted her and she knew it! Stretching out his long legs and locking his fingers behind his head, Taker studied her intently, a smug look on his handsome face. One thing was equally clear to him...she hadn't been with him yet! He didn't know how he knew this, he just did. And if he had anything to do with it, she never would.

"We need to talk!" He said quietly, watching her closely. She was tired and obviously worried about Kali.

"About what? Seems like we've said all there is to say." She said coolly.

"About us! I'd like us to try again!" He said, watching her reaction.

"There IS no US! We had and encounter! I don't even classify what we had as an affair, because in an affair, the people involved at least have to like each other! That can't be said for us!" Anger made her eyes glitter as she stared back at this man, unable to believe the gall of the man!

"We have children together! That must count for something!" Taker was trying his best, but all he was doing was making her angrier.

"Don't you DARE use those kids as a means to get to me!" She was furious.

Running a hand through his hair wearily, then down over his face, Taker look up at her. "That wasn't my intention! Look...I'm sorry. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. I'll go check into a motel then come back tomorrow to see them." He stood up, getting ready to leave. He felt drained and was tired of their fighting.

"No, that's not necessary! They are your children and it's time you got to know them! I have five bedrooms here! I think there's enough room for you spend a couple of nights. Staying in motels is bound to get old." She said by way of apology. Their eyes met and he saw the anger was no longer there. Maybe he just brought it up at the wrong time!

"Judy, I don't want to cause more problems. And if possible, I would like to try and at least have a civil relationship with you!" Taker had stopped at the door. He honestly wanted them to get along!

Lifting a trembling hand to her face, Judy was more tired than she could ever remember being. "We'll talk another time! But I'm too tired right now. Come on, and I'll show you to your room."

Taker followed her upstairs. He paused momentarily outside Judy's bedroom, reliving the last night he spent in this house. She had been about four months along then. Kane and Kali were getting married. Slowly, he turned the knob, pushing open the door. Her bed was turned down invitingly, a pale peach silk night gown lay across the foot of her huge canopy bed. He thought about the way the silk would caress her body. He was almost jealous of the garment. His eyes darkened as desire raged through his loins. Slowly, he pulled the door closed, the proceeded on down the hall.

Judy had turned to tell Taker this was his room, when she saw he had stopped in front of her room. She watched as he opened the door and looked in! But it was the look of pure lust in his eyes, when he faced her, that took her breath away...that threatened to buckle her knees. He was the last man she had been with, and that had been nearly a six months ago!

Unable to move, unable to look away, Judy found herself hypnotized by his emerald stare! With that slow steady stride he was known for, Taker stalked her in his own predatory manner. Now, he was the hunter and she was his prey. Slowly, she backed up until there was no where else to go! Only then did her retreat halt. He was less than two feet away from her!

Taker pinned her against the wall with his huge body. Leaning down slightly, his lips gently grazed her forehead in a kiss that was a soft as a butterfly's wing. And Judy had no doubts as to his desires! God forgive her, but she wanted him! Why did it have to be him that took her breath away...that made her go limp with desire?

Unable to help herself, her hands slipped around him, pulling him even closer, as his lips finally covered her own. Their kiss deepened, becoming more passionate as their desire for each other grew! Taker pulled her roughly against him, his lips moving along her jaw, then down her neck. He gently nibbled and sucked until she moaned loudly, pulling him closer still.

So great was her desire for him, that he could have taken her then and there. But at that moment the phone rang in another part of the house. Fear the ringing phone would awaken the babies broke through the fog of lust that had overtaken her. With every ounce of her remaining strength, Judy broke free of his embrace, to answer the phone in her room.

"Let your machine pick it up!" He said gruffly, watching as she made her way down the hall.

"It might be about Kali!" She said just before disappearing into her room. It WAS Kane! He called to say he changed his mind about her offer of a bed.

"I'll be there in a few!" He said just before hanging up.

"That was Kane! He's on his way here!" She said, seeing Taker leaning against the door frame.

"Then there's no time,to waste! Now where were we?" She hadn't been aware of him moving until he touched her. His eyes burned hotly with desire for her. When he touched her cheek, she knew she was lost.

The twins chose that moment to make their presence known. Judy could tell them apart now by their cries. Morgan was usually the first to awaken. His loud, lusty wails would not be denied, and usually woke his sister.

After asking Taker to go down for their bottles, she hurried in to their rooms. She gave her daughter a pacifier until she could take care of Morgan. He wasn't as patient as his sister, so Judy usually took care of his needs first.

Taker watched as she rocked and nursed their son! Singing softly to the little boy, her gentle smile filled with a mother's love, the baby made little noises of his own, smiling back at his mother. Taker was touched by her maternal actions. Soon the baby's hunger had been appeased, and after burping him, Judy laid him back in his crib. Next it was Kaitlyn's turn! By the time both babies had been attended to, Kane was knocking on the door.

As Judy and Taker made their way back downstairs, she couldn't help but grin when she heard him grumbling about bad timing. Then the look he gave poor Kane was hilarious!

After hearing about Kali. Judy said her good nights once again. Turning to Taker, she asked him to show Kane to the room next to his own. Their eyes met for the briefest of moments. As she left the room, Taker's hot gaze followed her.

Kane hadn't missed the exchange and knew he had probably interrupted something.

"You two gonna work things out?" Kane asked quietly, watching Taker's reaction.

"I hope so! For the kid's sake if nothing else!" He said with feeling.

"Yeah, but do you LOVE her?" Kane pressed the issue, keeping his eyes on his friend.

"Yes, DAMMIT! I do! Is that what you wanted to hear?" Taker had lost his temper and admitted the truth FINALLY, to someone.

Neither wrestler saw the other man standing just outside the kitchen. Lowering his head, Brent went back to his own bed. Two more days, and he would be gone from here! He would miss Judy and the twins, but his leaving was for the best. He wished them well.... he wished all four of them well.

Chapter 32!~Kaliegh!

Since she had left four days earlier, Chris had been unable to get Kali out of his mind. Her sad, tear-filled eyes haunted him constantly during his waking hours and plagued his dreams while he slept. He was not able to forget the kiss she had given him either. No matter how innocent she had meant it to be, it had affected him immensely. Chris glanced over at the clock on the nightstand beside his bed. He sighed realizing that it was too late to call her, but first thing in the morning he would do so.

***

Kali awoke with a start and sat straight up as she looked around the dimly lit hospital room. She sat back heavily against her pillows, a tear slipping from her eye as it dawned on her that what she had thought was only a dream was really harsh reality. She closed her eyes as everything that had happened, and more specifically the knowledge that Kane had not just been unfaithful once, but all through their relationship and marriage, filled her mind. An anguished filled moan escaped her as tears streamed unnoticed down her cheeks.

Finally several minutes later, her tears dried and she sat up again. She needed to talk to someone. She had no doubt that Judy could be reached at home and wouldn’t mind her calling, even at the late hour. But instead when she reached over and picked up the phone, it was a different number that she dialed.

Kali nervously chewed on a fingernail and waited as she listened to the phone on the other end ringing. After the sixth ring, she was ready to give up when she heard the line connect, and then a sleepy ‘hello’ mumbled.

"Hey Chris. I’m sorry for waking you, but I could really use a shoulder right now." Kali said, feeling very bad that she had awakened him.

"Kal?" Chris asked, not fully recognizing the voice on the other end that sounded tired and defeated.

"Yeah, its me." She replied. "Who else would call you at this time of the night?"

"It’s all right. I wasn’t sleeping anyway, just laying here. I’ve been thinking about you a lot. Are you okay?" Chris asked, his genuine concern coming through clear in his voice.

Kali sighed and was silent for a moment before answering. "I really don’t want to talk about it over the phone. Can you come here?" She questioned, knowing that all of the WWF had a two-day break.

Chris answered without hesitation. "Of course, baby. I’ll be there as soon as I can get a flight."

Kali felt tears stinging her eyes again when she heard his answer. "Thanks, Chris. I’ll see you soon." Her voice trembled as she spoke.

"Not a problem. I’ve wanted to see you since you left. Are you still at your friend’s house?"

"Ah, no….Actually I’m in the hospital. I’ll be fine, but I’ll have to be here for at least the next two days. I’ll explain when you get here.." She and Chris talked a few moments longer and then they ended the call.

After saying good-bye, Chris hung up his phone and then immediately picked it up again, calling the airport. Luck was on his side that night and he was able to get a flight that left in just two hours. By nine o’ clock that morning, he would see Kali.

*****

"Mornin’" Kane walked into the kitchen and mumbled to Taker, who was sitting by the table with coffee. Kane noticed his cup and headed straight for the coffee pot and poured himself one also.

"You staying for breakfast? Judy will be down to make it as soon as she gets the twins dressed. You should eat." Taker said, trying to start a conversation. His friend looked horrible and had no doubt gotten little to no sleep the night before.

Kane shook his head as he walked over to the table and sat down with Taker. "No, I just want to have this quick cup and then get back to Kali."

"How’s she doing?" Taker asked softly, meeting Kane’s eyes. He’d done a lot of thinking about everything after he’d admitted his love for Judy to Kane the night before. Taker knew that if he ever hoped to have a life with Judy in the future, he would have to be able to get along with her friends as well. And he wasn’t so sure if that would be possible after the way that he had treated her in the past.

Kane was surprised at first by the other man’s concern and could only stare back at him for a moment. Then he decided that Taker seemed sincere in asking and answered his question.

"Well, she was still sleeping when I left so I haven’t gotten a chance to talk to her again, but…." Kane’s voice cracked with emotion and he trailed off, unable to go any further. He knew he was a damned fool and hated himself for hurting Kali and putting their child at risk the way he had.

Taker sighed as he got up to refill his cup and then sat back down again. "Listen, I’m really sorry about all of this that has happened between you and Kali. I know that I’m partly to blame for your problems and for that, I apologize. I’m especially sorry for the way that I’ve treated Kali in the past. The lies that I told her…the things that I said to her…The way that I taunted her after she had found you with that woman, and everything else. I’m sorry." Taker finished and looked up from his cup, again meeting Kane’s eyes. Kane could only stare back at him, shocked silent by his apology and what seemed to be a huge change of attitude. Both men fell silent, lost in their own thoughts until finally Kane got up and left to go back to the hospital.

******

"I am so sorry you had to go through that, Kal." Chris said softly after having listened to everything that she had just told him.

"I just never thought that Kane would do something like this. I don’t know why he even bothered with me. I feel completely humiliated and very much like a fool." Kali replied as tears again filled her eyes.

"Trust me when I tell you, he’s the fool, not you." Chris gently wiped a tear from her cheek and then wrapped his arms around her, giving what comfort he could. He tightened his hold on her once her tears had stopped and she was left weak and trembling.

Chris pulled back after a few moments and studied her closely. "Did Kane give you any kind of explanation at all?"

Kali shook her head. "No, he didn’t really get a chance, but what kind of explanation could he possible give. What he did is inexcusable." Kali had become angry again. Her blue eyes were lit with it.

"Oh, yeah….I can just hear it now…"Sorry honey, but since we’ve been together and especially in the six months that we’ve been married, I’ve slept with at least ten other women. I hope you don’t mind because it meant nothing to me." Kali furiously spit the words out, her eyes shooting sparks.

"And now that it’s all out in the open, he thinks that he can just say that he’s sorry and everything will be back to normal. Maybe if it had just been a one time thing, I might have given him another chance. But I don’t really see how I can do that now. How am I ever supposed to trust him again? As far as I’m concerned, our marriage is over." She paused for a moment and took a deep breath before continuing.

"I really wish I would have found out about this a few months earlier. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled to be having a baby and would never think of not wanting it, but how am I going to get through this all by myself?" She finished as tears fell from her eyes and she sought out the comfort that his arms had to offer once again.

Chris hated Kane with a passion for putting Kali through this hell. "You won’t be alone. I’m right here with you and will continue to be here for as long as you want me to be." Chris whispered his promise to her as he continued to hold her while she cried.

Neither Chris nor Kali were aware of Kane, who had walked into the room minutes before and was standing silently by the door.
