 The long anticipated Louisiana State Historical that will commemorate the train wreck of February 27, 1862 that involved the 7th Mississippi has now been placed. The marker is located on Louisiana State HWY 51 near the actual wreck site. Watch this site for updates regarding a dedication ceremony to be held in 2009. Thanks to the Friends of Camp Moore for their work in getting this done as well as all the other groups and individuals who helped with donations and the labor to get this done. |

 The flag is in need of restoration. We are pleased to announce that the funds for this restoration have been kindly donated by the McMains Foundation. The flag has been sent for restoration and should be completed by summer of 2009.On behalf of all the men of the 7th Mississippi Infantry and their descendents we wish to thank former Louisiana State Representative F.   This is an extremely rare Confederate regimental drum, one of only four known to exist. It is the only one which is regimentally identified. | At this time author Ron Skellie working under the title, "Lest We Forget-The Immortal Seventh Mississippi, A Regimental History of the Men and Their Connections" is writing a book on the 7th Mississippi infantry. His goal is to chronicle the lives of these men from their enlistment in the 7th Miss. Volunteers thru the ultimate surrender in North Carolina and Alabama.
This book will be a compilation of official records, diaries, letters and family recollections about these men and their family and friends back home that they called their "connections". Their stories of love, fear, humor,determination, tragedy, death and survival as told thru the eyes of a great-great-grandson, cousin and nephew of one of their fellow members of the "High Pressure Brigade". Any and all family information, military records, letters, bible entries, pension records, photos, newspaper articles, obituaries etc. will be welcomed.
