JESSICA'S POEMS
JESSICA'S POEMS

Jessica, born May 17, 1981. My first born grandchild.

Jessica has a very unique talent, in which she is able to sit down and write a poem, in a very short time. She has written me several poems over the years, and I wish she had kept and recorded all of them. I am making her this page so everyone is able to view and enjoy her talent as much as I do.

RED DEVIL
Jessica's favorite poem

The bull was the toughest and meanest, also known for his rides
He was feared by everyone, including the cowboys at his sides. He was well respected by everyone around,
when he jumped from the chutes no one made a sound.

Every cowboy that rode him would soon make a fall,
Red Devil is what the admirers would call.

When a cowboy made his draw, he quickly realized his fate,
and his destiny would follow after he came out of the gate.

Red Devil had killed men to add up on his toll,
they said his heart was made of fire, and evil was in his soul.

He had devil's horns, and his coat was red as blood,
his evil raged as he threw the cowboys in the mud.

Everyone had respect for the devil like bull,
even if determination had filled their heart full.

In rodeo this bull did live his life,
and when cowboys fell it struck them like a knife.

This bull lived a life of never being ridden,
and his legend to die would always be forbidden.

A COWBOYS HANDS

His hands are rough from long hard days
and it's hard to say he gets his pays.
His hands work the cattle during the week
and on weekends rodeo they do seek.

His hands are the ones who do the job
and his hand is the one who wave to the mob.
His hands are used to control his horse
and for roping his hands are his main source.

You could almost say a cowboy's hand is his trademark
and on every journey they must embark.
A cowboy is important, but most of all,
when he needs help to his hands he must call.

His hands will soon get old and wear,
but the hard work he has done, they will always bear.
Always remember a cowboy and his hands
even after he is gone from these lands.

RODEO'S LIFE

Long trips on the road,
carrying along a heavy load.
Saddles are worn from hard rides,
but still they will stay at their sides.

Horses are tired and need a rest,
but at the next rodeo they'll do their best.
Cowboys legs are worn and sore,
still they'll go on and rodeo more.

Everyone goes on to follow their heart,
it's been keeping them happy from the start.
Cowboys are tough, and can take the pain,
even if there is little gain.

They go on to let the legend live,
and their life to rodeo they must give.
This thing called rodeo, is their game,
and the cowboy will always be their name.

COWGIRL

Her goal is always set a little high,
but when she doesn't reach it she will not cry.
She'll just try harder the next time,
being careful not to break her own crime.

She's the kind of girl, who'll always give her life,
and to stay on top, she puts forth every strife.
If she ever shall fail to complete a ride,
she will not let it ruin her pride.

The respect she has for herself and her peers,
has been shown greatly through the years.
To be number one is always a dream,
but she also remembers she's part of a team.

She's one of those unique girls you know,
and you recognize determinations so.

She's one of those different girls
who wears blue jeans, instead of pearls.

Always remember those girls and her ways,
'cause a cowgirl forever she stays!

THE LOYAL HORSE

He works long hours everyday,
but still loyal to his master he will stay.
He can vaguely remember a day he would never be rode,
still today he carries along a heavy load.

He herds the cattle and does the chores,
never once stopping because he has sores.
His master loves him and he loves him back,
even when in sleep he does lack.

He works all day to get the job done,
but come tommorow he'll rise with the sun.
His master realizes he does well,
and never once will he think to sell.

The horse is always ready to be on the go,
and dedication he gives to life so.
This is the life of a loyal horse,
and I have told you of his course.

FALLEN PRIDE

He's full of worry, his hand is full
the impossible ride, he drew the bull
what should he do, how could he ride
the bull is bound to take his pride.

All he needs to do is ride for eight,
but fallen glory is his certain fate.
As he straddles the bull, in the chute
he realizes life isn't so cute.

His challenge is sure to put him to shame,
but still he plays the everlasting game.
The bull busts loose into the arena sand,
and it all depends on the cowboys evil hand.

His hand comes loose and he takes a fall,
and never more the bull's horns call.
His dedication to the rodeo life,
and death was brought upon by his strife.
