Here is where the Rodeo
starts.
Rodeo kids starts with my
oldest
granddaughter Jessica Goodwin,
born May 17, 1981.In 1996, she joined the Pa.
High School Rodeo Assn. She did several events. They
included barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, and
breakaway roping. In 1997, Jessica ran for Rodeo
Queen, and became Miss Congeniality. In 1999, she was
voted Miss Congeniality for the 4 years she was in
the rodeo. I am so proud of her.
She started
riding horses at the age of 2. Jessica did local
horse showing and at the age of 8 she joined 4-H. I
(her grandmother) started her training, but she later
trained under the direction of Tina, who is a
licensed trainer. She did English riding and Hunter
Hack jumping, later switching to gameing on her Arab
pony, Destany, which I purchased for her for her 9th
birthday. They did very well together.
Now we have Tasha Zickler,
born August 2, 1983.
My granddaughter joined
rodeo in 1997. Her events are barrel racing, pole
bending, goat tying, breakaway roping and team
roping. She will complete her High School Rodeo in
the year 2001.
Tasha was voted miss congenialty 2000 and award for best personalty in Queen contest.I am so proud of her.
Tasha also started riding and showing at the age of 2
and did very well at her young age. I got her
started, but she was a natural. She always liked the
speed events.
She has been a 4-H member since the
age of 8 and does many local showings.
She is Miss
Tioga Park Pro Rodeo Queen, 1999-2000.
Tasha will
ride any horse at any speed.
Nathan, my grandson, the youngest of the
rodeo kids was born on Feb.4, 1984. He started rodeo
in 1999, and will continue until the year 2003.
As
of right now,
he is doing team roping, but plans in the near
future,
to participate in bull dogging.
He has been a 4-H
member since he turned 8 years old, but did not show
the interest
in the horse that the girls had, until rodeo. He is
very
interested in
riding horse and working with the horse now. He is a
great boy, and a lot of help to me and others.
His
main interest is farming and all that goes with it.
He's a very hard worker, and looks fantastic in
western attire.
~Jackie~
This year 2001 Jackie will start her rodeo season. This will be a new experience for both she and her 5 yr. old paint horse Whiskey. Jackie has been riding since she has been 8 years old, but she has always ridden older horses in English Pleasure and Western Pleasure. she will try her luck in Goat Tieing and break-away calf roping. She has been a 4-H member since the age of 8 and has shown in open shows, teem-penning and trail rides. She is now 15 yrs. of age.
