On a potato field, high on a hill, a family of 7, Larry, Nita, Debbie, Steve, Darlene, Doreen and Donna built a house. In a short time, with the help of many, all were ready to move in, and than it became our "HOME".
A lot of hammering, sawing, banged up fingers, sore muscles and a whole lot of love went into the building.
Now, at this point we needed a name for the farm. Fantasy Farm seemed appropriate. You see, it has always been my dream to have a farm.
We started out slow. First came the horse(Mandy), no barn, just a shed and pasture. We owned only 3 acres at this point, but we had pasture of 25 acres to use. As you can guess, more animals started coming. Goats, sheep, pigs, cows, ducks, chickens, rabbits, pet snakes, raccoon (named Rocky), and more horses, dogs and cats.
We worked hard growing our own veggies and processing our own food. Milked goats for milk, raised many animals for meat and had our own eggs.
Larry was unable to help run the farm, as he was earning a living, driving truck.
As the kids grew, some of the animals disappeared, although you will find many here now.
We have three
cats that are in
the house, more than out in the barn. Mama kitty, a
gray cat
which
is named
perfectly, as she is now 14 yrs old and still
blessing
us with 3 litters of beautiful kittens a year. All
are given away. Shania is a 2 yr. old black and white
cat. She is
very lazy. She spends most of her time on my water
bed.
Twister is a orange cat and very unique.
He was born with a neck
muscle problem and his head is out of control, so
that
is how he got his name.
Our heifer,
named Suzy, is a 1 yr. old black and white holstein.
We got her so that
the kids could practice roping, but she has become my
pet, follows wherever I go.
Pigs. We have
had
several, we even had 2 miniature pot bellys named
Olive
Oyl
and Sweet Pea.
Chickens, we
still keep
at least 1 dozen, used for eggs only. They are
able to
run free on the farm most of the time. They lay
their eggs in their hen house for the most part. They
are the heavy breed, "Rhode Island Red."
Our rabbit,
John Smith.
We have a gray angora bunny that is strictly a pet. My grandchildren named her this thinking she was a he. She is 2 yrs. old now and very large.
Our dog,
Cupid.
She is a black and white Springer Spaniel/Cocker. Her birth date is Feb. 14, 1999. This is how she got her name. A very good puppy, she loves to be outside whenever I am, and enjoys playing with the horses.
Our dog, Tabby.
A rolly polly happy dog. She loves to sled ride with the grandkids. Lays on her back and goes right along side of them. It is really funny to watch. A very good dog , she will let the kids do almost anything with her. She was 3 in October, is a Keeshhound/Shepherd.
