Folkloric Dance Group of Catalonia

"Esbart Joventut Nostra" was created in Barcelona, Spain in 1.960, and since has perfomed nationally in various Traditional Village Celebrations and Festivals, as well as abroad, introducing their dances to many European cities, including: Paris (France), Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Frankfurt (Germany), Brussels (Belgium), Zurich (Switzerland), and Florence (Italy).

"Esbart Joventut Nostra" contains an extensive repertoire which includes traditional as well as popular dances. The goal of the "Esbart" has always been to keep the traditional dances of Catalonia, Valencia and Mallorca alive, while also being open to new choreography.

  • The dancers wardrobes are particular to each dance and each dance has a corresponding musical composition. The group can perform accompanied either by a "Cobla" (typical musical group in Catalonia, formed by eleven musicians), a traditional music group (four or five musicians), or with recorded music.

"Esbart Joventut Nostra" is divided into four sections: the dance school, with boys and girls from 3 to 6 years old, the children's group, 7 to 10 years old, the young group, 11 to 16 years old, and the body dance, 17 years old and up, with a total of aproximately eighty dancers, all of them being amateur.
