Here's a poem written by Paula Kirsch from the message board. The poem was inspired by Paul and the work he did and still does.
Angels
People see radiant angels in puddles of rainwater,
And in the streetlight glow on the screens of deserted drive-ins.
They travel hundreds of miles to seek angel tears on the walls of
an orthodox church
And drop to their knees in ardent hopeful prayer.
They believe.
Yet I see angels in the tender hands of sacred people every day.
Soothing fingers that do the work no one wants to do.
Angeles flying without wings.
Caring, comforting, angels,
With sweet voices that touch that yearning place,
We all have in hiding,
They make us forget.
You can see the soft compassion in those knowing eyes,
Filled with humor and sympathy for what is.
They want to make a difference,
And they do.
These are the truest angels.
Those are their miracles.
I believe it's not so far to heaven,
I see angels every day.
Doing the quiet sad work we can't imagine,
Singing the songs that everyone needs to hear,
bearing the pain that no one wants to feel.
Blessed angels, soaring without wings.

Ocean Waves

The Little Mermaid swam swift and fast

To meet the love she hoped would last

So she swam and swam and swam some more,

'Til she was too close to shore.

And from the ocean waves she did see,

Her future, her dreams, her destiny.

Her princely love up in the castle high,

And she let out a breathless sigh.

Chorus

The Little Mermaid in the sea,

The sparkling jewel of her family,

Will strive to fulfill her life's destiny.

For though her true love she had found,

To the ocean she was bound.

But with the help of the sea witch,

She could fulfill her heart's only wish.

But oh, the witch's heart was of cold stone,

And the Mermaid feared she'd stay alone.

Then the witch decided to strike a deal,

To which the Mermaid agreed with zeal.

Chorus

In the deal the Mermaid had a choice,

To aquire legs in trade for her voice.

And though this deal was a bit tragic,

She agreed to let the witch work her magic.

The deal once struck, gave her little time,

To make the prince say "She's Mine".

Through trials and frustration she did fight,

Until arrived, had that fateful night.

Chorus

That night, she won despite deciet,

The prince forever with one last feat.

Of lover brought on by destiny,

And the sea witch dead, despite her trechery.

Bridge

Together at last, to savor their love,

Despite all evils that tried to intervene,

The Mermaid and the Prince fulfilled destiny.
