Chick Stories

These are stories sent to me by Dixie Chick fans who have met them and/or seen them in concert.

From Shawn:
ok, it all started when i was on my way home from new jersey where i was visiting cousins and i was meeting friends at a hotel that i had told them to meet me at. Anyway, when they were waiting for me to show up they saw martie walk into the lobby of the hotel and they started to chase her. but, she was too fast for them. They then started to walk around and saw emily in the weight room. But, they wouldn't go talk to her. When i showed up, i was attacked by them running up to me telling me all at one time. Then, we just hung in the lobby to see if they would show back up, but they didn't, so we went to the concert. When we got there, we found out that we got better seats along with our backstage passes. The concert was awesome but it was awesome when we went to go meet them. One of my friends brought a cup from the hotel for them to sign and they just started to laugh and were like, you were the girls from the hotel. Anyway, i wish i could of been at the hotel but atleast i got to go and see them backstage and touch natalie:o) if you can't tell, she is my favorite. Anyway, that was like, really really really awesome, and we ended up getting pictures with them, autographs, and we even got tattoos. But, the best part was being able to have a real conversation with them. Geesh, it was great!!!

My name is Bryan Gillespie. I am a student at Michigan State University. I went to a concert this fall that had Clay Walker/Michael Peterson/and of course the Dixie Chicks. I had went to go get tickets when this concert was announced, but I realized that I did not have enough cash for them because I had spent all of my money on the Shania Twain concert a week before, so I just went to the ticket office to keep my friend company. We got to the line and the local country station was signing people up to win free front row seats and guess who won. Yes, I was front row to see "The Chicks!" Being the envy of all of my friends, I invited my buddy to go with me and sit up front. When we got there they had already started the show, but we only missed one song. As my me and my friend celebrated in the front row, we didn't notice that Martie was cracking up at our behavior. I then started to notice that she had a dollar bill hanging out of her pants. Right away, I had to ask her what it was for. I lipped the question to her and she didn't understand me, which was understandable since she was in the middle of a concert. She did end up hearing me and she just smiled at me and shrugged her shoulders. We continued to share looks and laughs at each other (at this point I was in a state of shock that this was going on). I ended up getting up the nerve to hold a dollar bill up and wave it around for her to take. She then did what I couldn't have dreamed of. She came out to the edge of the stage and put her thumb in her pants and opened them jsut enough for me to put the dollar in!!!! Being an experienced strip club patron, I obliged her request and inserted the dollar as well as enjoying the moment of having my fingers down a dixie chick's pants!!!!! I do have witnesses. She smiled and said thanks. At the end of the show they thanked the crowd, and Martie took the feather boa she had and walked up to me and wrapped it around my neck and said thanks again!! This was one of the best concerts I have EVER been to or even dreamed of. I just wish there was some way for me to get ahold of them so I could thank them personally. The rest of the concert was very cool but that was the highlight. And that's pretty good considering Michael Peterson shook my hand and Clay Walker invited me on stage to sing with him an old school country song that I didn't know!!

I recently went to the Dixie Chicks concert with my best friend at the State Fair. Their music came into our lives when she brought the Cd home one day and said that I had to sit down and listen to it with her. She hardly ever buys Cd's and something about it made her pick it up and bring it home. We listened to the songs over and over, relating the lyrics to our own lives. From that day we have been bonded through the Chicks! That night at the concert we couldn't believe the voices that we love so much were right in front of us. We were the only people in our area at the concert that knew every song, dancing and signing. If you've been to their concerts, you'll know you can't help to feel the energy they send to you. We waited after to meet the girls. We told them fast what their music meant to us. My roommate told Natalie that we were going to see if we could meet them on the show Fanatic on MTV. She thought that was an awesome idea. I also talked to them about performing at the CMA awards and they shared with us how excited they were about the opportunity. The girls were awesome! I am so glad I got the chance to meet them and can't wait to go to another concert of theirs.

I went to Fan Fair and saw them at Centennial Park, and it was the best! Then I waited by the bus almost an hour to get an autograph. But On Tuesday, I waited from 10 am - 2 pm to meet them at their booth. I was the first one in line. But it was so worth it! And that night I went to their show at Tower.It was an amzing week all together.
From Lynn:
Saw them about a month ago in Silver Creek, Colorado at Michael Martin Murphey's West Fest over the 4th of July. It was raining, which sucked, but it didn't phase the Chicks. They were relatively new to this crowd, but after their set they were the talk of the concert because they were BY FAR the most exciting and energetic group. It is really great to see a show where the band truly loves what they are doing and appreciates the opportunities they have. They also recorded the video for Wide Open Spaces up there, since according to Natalie, "Where else but Colorado would be so appropriate!" One last tidbit, Natalie says to the crowd, "Martie didn't want to be a Chick. She wanted to be a Spice Girl, but I told her she had too much talent and she had to come with us!!" The crowd went NUTS!! Anyway, it was a kick ass concert and I hope they are around for a long time!!

I saw The Dixie Chicks in concert on July 11, 1998 at Knott's Berry Farm in Los Angeles. It was sooo great,you don't even know!! The concert started at 8 p.m but I went and waited for 3 hours for my seats ( first come first served ) and I got second row! It was amazing seeing them up there on stage. Emily was right in front of me and kept smiling at me,and Natalie waved at me. But the thing that was so cool was that before they sang "Wide Open Spaces" they said that that song was about not giving up on your dreams, and that meant so much to me to hear that.That's what topped it all.

It was May 1, 1998, and the chicks were in Winston-Salem, NC. We'll, I knew that I wouldnt be able to hold still during their concert, so I was up dancing in the aisles and singing along and stuff. I got so into the music. After "I Can Love You Better", Martie was saying something (she is my fav). The audience was quiet...except for me! I stood up in front of 2,000 people and yelled "We love you Martie!!!!!!!!" She kinda paused, look at Natalie and started laughing. She couldnt even finish what she was saying before. The only thing she said was "I love you too sweetheart". I never felt better in my life. My heroine told me she loved me! That was the BEST concert of my life!

I have a story from when I saw the Dixie Chicks! I saw them at City Stages in Birmingham, AL..and they were terrific! We pushed our way to the front..and stood there for almost an hour while they cleared the last band's instruments out of the way and made room for the Dixie Chicks. Finally they came out and man were they good! They are so energetic and great performers!!! I was with 2 of my friends..and one of them decided he was going to take his shirt off and he climbed on my other friends shoulders and screamed for them. Not only did this cause a commotion within the crowd..but with the girls themselves. They were laughing..and waving at them. It was all in all a great performance...the best I saw the entire time I was there! I highly recommend them to people if you get the chance to see them!

When they first steped out of the bus flashes of cameras went on. When they got in the car and started pulling around to the arena, Natalie was making a driving motion with her hands while they were in the car. During the show there was so much energy and liveliness! After the show when they were making their final round in the arena, Martie was shaking hands with everyperson, she could. In the autograph line they were so nice and talked and signed autographs and took pics with everyone who waited on them. They were so nice by doing all that even though they were dog tired. They were so nice too. Martie if you read this I'm sorry my head was in the way. I didn't know =)

I saw the Dixie Chicks in a club in Myrtle Beach, SC called the Beach Wagon. Those girls totally blew us all away! I was lucky enough to be in the very front row and directly in front of Natalie about 2 feet away from her, I swear! I don't know how I held my composure. I just stared into her dreamy eyes all night while she captivated my heart. They are so talented and down to earth. I got to met them all, got my picture taken with them, got autographs, got hugs (my favorite);-)...They are just so awesome and I don't see how they couldn't go very very far because they love what they do and most of all, they love their fans..Dixie Chicks Rule!!!!!
