The Fireplace

Cold air, starry night... it was about time someone lit a fire!

Don't be shy. Pull up a chair, join the circle and don't forget to grab some hot cocoa over by the corner there.

I'm Zitrin. Welcome to my home.

You see that tall guy attempting to TaNgO over there? Yep, the thin one with the glasses. That's Elmo. He is really funny. Helped me put together a good lot of great quotations and thoughts from "the great masters of humanity" as he put it. Most of tem are funny and quite a few make good food for thought. They are over by the lightbulb. Be sure not to miss it.

I see you are staring at that somewhat different object on that side of the room. Luiza picked it up at an antique shop. It's a jukebox, you know... one of those music playing things. Feel free to try it out. I am really sorry, but it does work on dimes... ;) however it is worth the trouble. It's got songs ranging from pop to classical going through rag and rock.

See that small group gathered by the window? Tom is talking to them. I know what you are thinking. Bermuda shorts and T-shirt don't really suit this weather. Well, believe me. I tried to make him put on a sweater, but I guess he just likes to be different. He has been around for quite a bit and is probably telling one of his travel stories. He loves seeing things with european eyes. You are welcome to join them.

But first let me show you the rest of the place. Come along with me. Make sure you watch your step over these stairs here, cause we're out of doctors.

Now, on this table there is a good lot many things. You see that big black book? It is by far the most important thing here. It is my guestbook. You can choose to view it if you want, but whatever you do, don't forget to Post a Message in My Guestbook! . It would be a shame if you stopped by and I didn't get to know about it. Ok, let me see what else...

Oh, of course! That little red notebook with the hard cover. It is what on might call a "credit" notebook. It gives many thanks to all the people who helped me with "The Fireplace", from carrying the pile of logs for burning, to hanging pictures on the wall.

There are some flyers scattered around. Elmo was handing them out to every newcomer. It is some kind of writing he did about me. He said it served to "cast some light" over the person that runs this place..., which is me. Pick up one if you wish, I don't mind. I think it is ok as an introduction.

However, I find what he wrote a little bias, so there is also a somewhat witty biography I did myself. It is on that spiral notebook over there. (Yes, the one with the Frankenstein cover. No, don't ask me about the cover! No, it is not supposed to mean anything, it was on sale, ok?!) J I had to name it something, but at the time I was lacking inspiration. So, I called it Zitrin. (very original, I know). Well, have a look at it if you want.

Feel free to use the stationary and pen on the table. I love getting letters, so mail me anytime about anything concerning "The Fireplace".

What else...oh. See this locked drawer over here? It is off-limits. I am working on the family photo album (which is hilarious, by the way) and it's not quite done yet.

Even when it gets done, it is for family-only. So, if you are part of the family drop me a line and IŽll lend you the key.

That's pretty much the grand tour. Roam around all you like before choosing where to go. IŽll be upstairs with the main group. They are really the big attraction here at "The Fireplace". We'll be reading lots and lots of poems and listening to all sorts of short stories and clippings by the fireside.

Some other places I like to go to were jotted down on this "out there" list. They are worth checking out.

Have a fun time... and if you walk outside clean your boots before coming back in again.

See yŽaround,

Zitrin
