one little story

In the beginning the Great Spirit gave the birds and animals the wisdom and knowledge to talk with man. Through the creatures of the earth, the Great Spirit taught us many sacred songs and dances. They taught us many things.

Looking to the Eagle we remember one lesson. The Eagle feather's are divided into two parts. One part light and the other dark. This represents day and night, summer and winter, peace and war, life and death.

Remember my children the Great Spirit gives us many signs. Just look to the Eagle.

'Honon' which means 'Bear'
He has found a home

While traveling through the beautiful land of Oklahoma. I remember the stories and hardships the families went through. Along the road I would see green pastures and horses grazing along by the road, cattle standing so still upon a hillside. It was like stepping out of a dream. I was there when all was in bloom. But yet again, here I was traveling at the best time of year and in the best conditions. Along the way I spotted a old little white school house and wondered if that was the one my Grandmother attended. Time seemed to drift forward and back and I felt as if I were on my way home.

'The Chief'

 He has found a home

Here we have Kuruk, who love to play with the children and he is always telling stories, like grandfathers do.

'No More Tear's .

"Grandmother why do the boys get to play with sticks and ride the ponies and ride off with the men? They seem to be always playing games while we are always working. "Those are not games my little one. They are lessons. Playing with the sticks and riding the ponies teaches them to hunt and fight. Someday they will be the ones to care for this tribe. It will be up to them to make sure that there is enough food to eat and that we are safe from harm. You and all the young women of our tribe are most important to those young braves.

This is

'Kuruk' mean Bear

Looking for a home

This is one of the first Indian pieces I did when I started workiing with SS polyner clay. It is a Indian Grandmother with her grandchild. There they stand in the woods by a tree, while Grandmother was wiping away the young girls tears.

When we gather sticks for the fire, it keeps us warm and cooks our food. Someday I will teach you how to make the pots that we use and how to weave a very fine rug for your bed. Did you know that on every pot and every rug we tell a story. Someday you will have a good husband and many children. They will play at your feet and you will be very happy. But look there my child, some of those boys you see there, they may not have all those things. For their journey is hard and dangerous, so lets hope they learn well. Let's just pray to the Great Spirit to keep them safe. For we need 'No More Tears'
