Village Industries under the fold of KVIC

Consequent on the amendments of KVIC Act, the village industries under the purview of KVIC have been classified into seven broad groupings. These are:

  1. Mineral based industry.

  2. Forest based industry

  3. Agro based and food industry

  4. Polymer and chemical based industry

  5. Engineering and non-conventional energy

  6. Textile industry (excluding Khadi), and

  7. Service industry.


With the widening of the scope of village industries KVI has added 90 new village industry activities making a total of 116 village industries as against 26 industries covered earlier.
