My Favorite Things
        Carolyn's Café

Everybody has favorite things.  A favorite thing is what brings you pleasure in one form or another.  We spend too much time hearing about what's wrong with the world.  This page is about the good things that, if I were to stop to think about it, are what brings me little bits of happiness ...my favorites:

love

"It seems to me I discovered what 'I love you' really means. It means I put you and your interests and your comfort ahead of my own interests and my own comfort because I love you.

What does this mean?

I love you.  What does this mean?

Think.

We use this expression very carelessly.

LOVE  has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get-- only with what you are expecting to give -- which is everything.

What you will receive in return varies.  But it really has no connection with what you give.  You give because you love and you cannot help giving.  If you are very lucky, you may be loved back.  That is delicious but it does not necessarily happen."        -Katharine Hepburn "Me  -Stories of my Life"

classic movies

I love a good classic movie.  Most of the best movies were made back in the 30's, 40's and 50's.  It is a cliche to use the term " Golden Age of Hollywood" , but it most certainly was just that.  My favorite actress of all time is Irene Dunne.

The wonderful Irene Dunne , an actress who excelled in a variety of genres, also enchanted audiences with her musical talents.

Some of Irene's classic movies are:

Show Boat -1936 My Favorite Wife -1940 Love Affair -1939 Theodora Goes Wild -1936 The Awful Truth -1937
Penny Serenade -1941 I Remember Mama -1948 A Guy Named Joe -1943 Cimarron -1931 Life With Father -1947
The Age of Innocence -1934 Back Street -1932 Magnificent Obsession -1935 Anna and The King of Siam -1946 The Secret of Madame Blanche -1933
The White Cliffs of Dover -1944 Sweet Adeline -1934 Roberta -1935 Unfinished Business -1941 High, Wide and Handsome -1937
