Ocean

The Ocean

The dark sky opened up and the rain fell,
down, down on the earth below.
The wind blew with eerie forced.
The sound of thunder could be heard,
crashing, banging, making everything shake with fear.
The once calm ocean was now wild with envy,
tossing large boisterous waves over the beaches it surrounded.
The waves pounded the shoreline, taking little pieces
of the beach with them each time they came crashing down.
Crashing, pounding the once large boulders around the cliffs,
slowly eroding them into sand.
And there amongst all this fury, at the edge of the beach,
there was one jagged boulder,
standing proud, no longer afraid.
The storm the night before had created a barrier around her.
The barrier protected her from the cold hearted, and cruel ocean.
No waves could reach her,
and pound what was left of her jagged edges into sand,
washing her slowly out to sea.
Only the wind could reach her now.
And no matter how hard he threw himself at her,
all he could do was smooth out her rough edges.....
