August 10, 2003 - "What starts with an "F" and ends in an "UCK"? FIRETRUCK!!!

Right. so lots to catch up on AGAIN. I have been working like mad as usual... so that night I went out to Fez Batik with Joy and Jill, we got free drinks from this police officer who's 27, named Ted, had a friend visiting from South Africa, and wanted to maybe settle down in Ottawa. Then I was leaving the bathroom when one of the bouncers was walking up the stairs in front of me. He's like, Hey, you were here before right? I'm like, yeah, two weeks ago. He's like, Yeah, I recognize you. I'm like, you remember me from two weeks ago? He's like, yeah, well I remember the legs...

So we talked for a bit, basic introductions. His name is Corey and he is MUCHOS CUTE! Like a big teddy bear. Then later on before I was leaving, I smiled at this really cute guy while going up the stairs. On my way out, he grabs my hand and asked why I was leaving so early. It was 3am so I told him I was tired and had to work in the morning. He got my number and called the Tuesday after. That Thursday, I went back to Fez with some people and Corey was there again and he's like, Hey, good to see you again, but couldn't remember my name. So I give him my ID and he's holding it and my hand for about a minute and so I go, Commiting it to memory? He's like, Yeah, Sharlene... But I'll just call you Hot Legs if that's okay. Then I saw Jon on Sunday night and it was fun... he's one of those all-Canadian guys. Wants to settle down in the outskirts of Toronto with the 2.3 kids and a cottage during the summer... But a nice guy for sure.

Saw Jon again the Thursday after that, and that was good too but we don't really have that much in common. I don't even want anyone in my life right now but we do have some good times together. Bad movies seem to follow us around... first we saw half of Swordfish and then we were like, Umm, I don't get it... then the second date we caught part of Dumb and Dumber which was playing on tv at the time. Classics, for sure.

So Friday night, Emily, Mel and I went to Dimmi's for dinner.. yum! I love that place... good Italian food. Then Emily and I went to Just Desserts on Yonge and Wellesley for some people-watching and some amazing desserts. Had a good old chat too. It's nice that she's Alicia's friend from Sudbury and that I get along so well with her - she's so much fun to hang out with! Last night I went to Hemingway's with Chris and Felix for some cajun fries.. SO GOOD. And I handed in my letter of resignation to Jacob too which was kind of sad. My manager was like, SHARLEEEEEENE! DON'T DO THIS TO ME!!! It will be sad to leave but I can always go back if I want to. She wanted me to reapply for Christmas and all, it was sweet. And she's like, "I'm just upset because it will be a big loss to us." The thing is that I don't want to do anything half-assed. I've sworn that I will buckle down this year and really concentrate on my studies, and I'm still at Pottery Barn, and they treat me really well there. I told her that I didn't want to keep working there when they could find someone else who could give more time and dedication to the job than I can during the year...

Aii... it's so sad, summer is ending. So I went to Fez AGAIN with Alicia, Emily and Emily's friend Jane... and Corey remembered my name this time. Jane didn't have ID so her and Emily had to go back... Alicia and I were inside and got worried so we went outside to call their place. On the way out, he's like, You're leaving already? I'm like, nah, be back in a bit. So Emily and Jane finally made it back and we went in again. I left at 1am cuz Chris was sleeping over and I love having slumber parties with him!! So on the way out, Corey was like, leaving again? I'm like, yeah, for real this time, I gotta go and sleep. We started talking and all, and so after awhile I'm like, I gotta go but I'd love to hang out sometime if you're interested.. he's like, definitely! Do you have a phone? So I pull it out and I'm like, you expect me to call you?? I was just about to splurt out my standard "I don't call people", when he's like "you'd better!!" and gives me a big hug and then I left. He's such a flirt, it's so cute. Just one of those people who is always happy and it makes you happy to be around them.

Had a good laugh with Chris when I got back, we were editing Mel's essay and one of the lines was 'the Hong Kong economy was hit by the...' and so Chris looks up synonyms for 'hit'... and comes up with... PULVERIZED! I came across the word 'commitment' and I'm like, I don't do this... haha... Chris is like, 'what, starts with a C and ends with an 'Omitment'?? I'm liek, yeah... he goes, 'what starts with an F and ends in an 'UCK'?? I'm like, 'Unk-f?" He's like, 'FIRETRUCK!!!' and that, ladies and gentlemen, is the moral of my story.
