July 2, 2003 - "In living color"

Holy cow - been so long! Super update then. See, here's the irony. The more stuff I do that is interesting enough to update my website about, the less time I have to do the actual updates! So last one was June 24... hmm...

June 25 - My Aunt Rosalind's birthday! worked at Jacob then Chris and Felix came over for dinner with me and Melly

June 26 - Jason Carlson's birthday! yippee! Had a stats test that day and then went to workout at harthouse with June. Man, it was intense... 5km here we come!!!

June 27 - My Uncle Jeff's birthday! Worked an early and long shift... 8:30am to 5:30pm so that I could make my uncle's surprise birthday party up in Unionville - about an hour away by public transit. very very fun - they have a kickass house and great food, wonderful company! Chris, Mel, Jad and Nadia came to pick me up as Chris had the car... and they roll up, Chris asks John if "Shar" is there. They usually call me Yen-Ching which is my middle name so John's like, nope, sorry you've got the wrong house.. haha... got outta there at 11:30pm, went for YUMMY chocolate cake at Demetre's! Good times. Missed the last train back so the wonderful Chris with his wonderful car had to drive us all the way back downtown. Poor baby.

June 28 - EARLY SHIFT! grr... 8am to 3pm. Pat arrived! Mel and Marianne took care of him while I finished my shift and then went to meet them at Spring Rolls. I came back to the apartment with them and there, in the middle of my living room was a TV!!!! HOLY COW. I have the bestest friends ever! Mel and Marianne had bought me a tv for my birthday, I nearly cried it was so beautiful. hahaha... Jad got me a whole bunch of colored glassware and a bartending book!!! (hehehehhehehehehe... *wink*) Nadia painted me a table which goes along with Jad's present as it has martini glasses and names of drinks all over it. VERY HOT! I swear, how they managed to pull off the tv though right under my nose was impressive!

So about two days before, Mel told me she couldn't go shopping with me because she had to go to lunch with her friend Jeannette. So I was all teary and had to go spend money at Guess by myself... *sigh*. She gets a call and was like, "I'll be right down.." And so I thought her friend was picking her up. I wait for her, and leave with her... meanwhile Marianne was waiting across the road inside Subway watching us leave the building together. Mel told me her friend was picking her up around the corner... and her and Marianne go and pick out the tv! Tooooo funny guy.

Anyways, we did a bit of wandering around, then that night I took my Aunt Rosalind, Uncle Jeff, John and Jaime (two of their kids), my godmother, her husband and her mother, and some other people out to dinner at Ampeli, which is on the Danforth - greektown baby! So much food, and lots of great company. Ended up at Revival down on College St that night with Marianne, Mike, Sanford, Happy, Laleh, Chris, Bernie, Joy, June, Mel, Jad, Nadia, Lorien, Alicia, Pat, Felix... I hope I didn't miss anyone! It was a wonderful time... got picked up by an Aussie.. haha.. so hot. man.. was dancing with Chris and he's like, why are you looking at me like that? I'm like, oh sorry, i wasn't looking at you - i was trying to pick up the guy behind you. anyways, this guy introduced himself, asked what i was doing in toronto etc.. .he's like, I'm Australian. I'm like, me too! hahaha... his expression was just like, whaaaaa? It was such a good time - it was brit pop night which I had no idea bout beforehand! ahhhh! I was expecting lounge and we walk into blaring music and Robbie Williams style... but it's the company that makes it fun and I had the best company in the world.

June 29 - MY BIRTHDAY! Lunch with my godmother, uncle and Pat down at harbourfront. did some shopping, and had dinner at Sushi Inn in Yorkville with Mel, Nadia, Joy, June and Pat. Got free ice-cream (yay melly!) for everyone, mine had a candle in it and was sung happy birthday to in the middle of the restaurant. that's three days in a row! woohoo! Went to see Charlie's Angels 2 that night which was pretty good. Man, I've missed out on so many movies this summer... haven't seen Matrix 2, or Finding Nemo... had a wonderful birthday, couldn't believe I was 20!! I have the most wonderful friends. Was very surprised and happy - got calls from Jess Shiu, Mohsin, Alan, Steph Liu and Parsons that day to wish me happy birthday. Thanks guys! My friends are the best - Bernie, Joy and June got me this KICKASS lamp, one of those shell kind of ones... my sis got me LOTS OF ALCOHOL! hahaha... Melly and Marianne's tv (which I'm still in shock from receiving - and cannot believe they pulled it off right under my nose!), Pat gave me a print of one of my favorite characters of his, Chris gave me highball glasses to match these funky coasters I have, Nadia's table... my godmother got me this gorgeous bracelet that is the sleekest piece of metal that I have ever held! And last but definitely not least, Joy and June also compiled a book of memories for me - they put so much work into it, and made separate pages for everyone to write a message to me. Man, I love this guys, I am truly spoiled by my friends. VERY VERY TOUCHED.

Went to CN Tower and did the whole tour and glass floor thing. Alicia was working - hi Alicia! She gave us lots of goodies like kraft dinner, ritz crackers etc. that was being promoted by a Hulk display. woohoo provisions!

June 30 - Headed to Niagara Falls with Pat, Mel and Marianne. Did the whole tour - haunted house, LOTS of those 3D/4D shows, Ripley's believe it or not, wax museum etc. Dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and then Casino time!!! Will hopefully get some photos of that trip up when Pat gets back to Connecticut and uploads them from his camera. Funniest thing - at Ripley's, there were those fortune machines where you hit a button and it tells you about your personality or love attitude etc. Marianne is Clammy... but Sexy! I was Naughty but nice, and Foxy. hehehe... Ahhh, Clammy. :)

July 1 - Yay Canada Day! Hit a wax museum before leaving on the bus back to Toronto. Down to the Harbourfront for dinner with June, Joy, Rob (Joy's boyfriend), Mike, Marianne, Nadia, Mel, Oneika and her friends (sorry, can't remember names!), Chris, Pat, Dharshan and Rob's friend Tom. Good food (as always) and amazing desserts. Chocolate fudge cake with chocolate hazelnut ice cream. Oh my gosh. Had roasted corn too - YUM. Walked around and then watched the fireworks... met up with Sanford, Paula, Maya, and them afterwards which was awesome.. I love Canada Day. Yay for being Canadian!

July 2 - Did some shopping at Eaton Centre, had a shift at Jacob and then headed uptown for some good chinese food, arcade games and bubble tea. holy crap - Chris let me drive around a bit in his precious car... I don't know what possessed him but all I know is that he was so traumatized (but I'm a good driver!!!) that I will never be allowed near his "baby" again. See, he kind of roped himself into it. I kept on offering to drive as a joke.. he kept on refusing so I said, "What, you don't trust me??" He's like, "You woudln't trust me in your car!" I'm like, "Yeah I would..." and Mel's like, "Umm, actually, yeah, she would.." and he's like, damnit! ANyways, freeway lesson on Tuesday - SO EXCITED! I love driving.. maaaan. Felix drove Nadia, Mel, Pat and I home. Love that guy... his magic card tricks - sooooo good! Got a phone call from my friend Jacqualine LeGassick who is in Maine now but I know her from Australia... man, I haven't seen that girl in about 4 years so hopefully I'll meet up with her later on this summer!

July 3 - dim sum this morning with Nadia, Mel, Marianne, Pat and Felix at Bright Pearl down in Chinatown. Hit the cheese store where I got my Aussie cheddar - oh man.. it is heaven. fresh fruits, chin toi and all that... went to stats class and got my test back. good grade - so happy! then Second City comedy show which was hilarious as always. Bubble tea again in Yorkville at the new Meteor place above Sushi Inn. And now I sleep. Pat leaves tomorrow which is so sad! So crazy seeing that guy in Toronto - somewhat surreal.. haha... gotta get back into schedule. I took his visit to be a vacation for me too so I gotta get my ass back to the grindstone! Gym tomorrow after work and then party on Saturday after my shift that day! woohoo! getting used to work, it's not too bad after you get used to the people and strike some kind of compromise with the managers. they're good people, really. *mwah* love you all, thanks for a wonderful week.
