I asked of thee To bestow upon I Someone who would love me The sky was gray That particular day When he walked into my life At first I thought him to be Not the one for me But then with passing days The man who walked my way Filled me with happiness and warmth How could I let go When I had no way to know If I would feel that way again So I held on tight With each passing night And I prayed that it never end My day My night My friend Oh god I prayed it to never end From far I saw things slipping away And I pulled him close Practically begging him to stay Everything was escaping though my hands This I could not stand So I cried The tears continued to fall And the sky was gray That particular day When he walked into my life I came to understand That the man who walked my way Was never meant to stay I came to understand Even though I wished it to be He was never the one for me
