Night Fear

Tick Tick Tick
The clock goes round and round
The room is quiet and undisturbed
The wind beneath the ground
The air is thin
The wall moves closer
I sit for it will pass
My tender heart
Oh so naive
Responds as it was asked
The beat inside pounds so hard
I can feel it against my skin
My hands across the spot
Confirms what lies within
I hear the sounds
I know the noise
They have surely come
My breath is short
My watch ticks louder
The pale darkness arises
A new world has begun
One I don't belong to
One I must run from
No words are spoken
But thoughts much louder
The minutes tick
No value perceived
For what is time
In the still of the night
With all the creeks and cracks unsettling
As they slowly devour a person with fright
So lost and unprotected
A target for fear
What looms in the walls
Is all but too near
I frantically look from side to side
Hoping this agony will soon subside
If i sleep
I shan't hear the sounds that are near
For off to sleep I go
Good night creepy crawlers
In moments you'll be gone
But in the hearts of many
You'll surely live on
