Death Becomes Her

From the depths of her soul she weeps
Her inner child once fast asleep has awoken
Startled
Afraid
As she has been for years
She grasps on to her doll
For love
For support
For understanding
Worn though the years
The doll crumbles to dust
With fragile hands
She runs her fingers
Though the years
Of trouble
Of heartache
Now scattered across the floor
Vulnerable
Exposed
She struggles to cover her life
Her innocent eyes now peer
From side to side
The day she dreaded has now arrived
With painsaking cries
With painsaking sobs
She huddles close in a fetile position
Her eyelids fall heavy
From beyond appears a light
A light which carries the child
High above
Never to be hurt again
