A 6,734-yard, par-72 course; which winds around trees, mangroves and wetlands, is one of the most exotic courses to play in all of Mexico. The first hole, a casual 378-yard, par-4 which doglegs slightly left around a pond, is a precursor of hazards yet to come. About half of the holes have significant water to deal with, and all carry the imminent threat of a ball lost forever in the kind of spiny, malicious growth only an ancient Mayan would venture into. Water comes into play on 13 holes at Cozumel Country Club, and be on the lookout for those crocodiles, especially in the ponds in front of the second tee and between the 14th green and 15th tee. The No. 1 handicap hole is No. 7 (a dogleg left 407-yard par four).

Among a strong set of par threes, the 204-yard 5th hole and the 189-yard 12th hole probably are the best. The daunting 18th, an easy-sounding 356-yard Par-4 handicapped as No. 4, is considered one of the toughest finishing hole. It requires a precision shot 150 yards over a marsh to a small landing area.
