Aladdin's Story

In the mysterious Arabian city of Agrabah there lives a young peasant boy named Aladdin who is more than what he seems, a diamond in the rough. With his monkey friend, Abu, Aladdin steals what he needs to survive, barely dodging the guards, and dreams of one day escaping his poor life and proving that he is worth much more than people think. One day, he helps a young girl in the market place and begins to fall in love with her, only to learn that she is none other than the Princess Jasmine in disguise-- and the law that says she can only wed a royal suitor! Al's luck changes when a mysterious old man takes him to the incredible Cave of Wonders in search of a magical lamp... Abu's greed causes Aladdin to get trapped in the extraordinary cave along with a whimsical magic carpet. With one rub of the magical lamp he has been sent to retrieve, Al releases the shape-shifting, fun-loving, wish-giving Genie--who gets him out of the cave and turns him into the dashing Prince Ali so he can win Jasmine's hand! But, little does Aladdin know that the old man he helped was the evil sorcerer, Jafar, and his wisecracking parrot, Iago, who crave the lamp's power. If Aladdin is to defeat them and win Jasmine's heart, he must learn to be himself-- and that's one wish the Genie can't grant! When Jafar does get his hands on the lamp and orders the genie to make him first sultan, than an all powerful sorcerer with the ability to shape shift into a gigantic cobra, Aladdin remembers his street rat skills and tricks Jafar into wishing to be a Genie! When Jafar does just that, he seals his fate, trapping himself inside a lamp just as Al planned. With Jafar gone and Aladdin a much wiser man, he keeps his promise to the Genie and wishes his blue friend his freedom. The sultan thinks that Aladdin has more than proven himself to be a worthy suitor for Jasmine by saving the city of Agrabah and alters the ancient law, now the Princess may marry whomever she deems worthy. Jasmine, of course, chooses Aladdin, who says to just call him Al.
