Ten hard facts for pop ecologists:

  1. Giving an empty corn flakes box to a child to cut up and colour with a crayon as a "craft" before throwing it into the garbage can does not make less garbage.
  2. Fur seals are not an endangered species.
  3. Granite is less biodegradable than plastic. Thus, by the logic of pop ecologists, the world would be more ecologically sound if it contained less granite.
  4. Taking water out of a river, drinking it, processing the sewage, and then returning the water to the same river does not create a water shortage by "using up" the water. It only creates a need for more water processing plants.
  5. A thousand horse-drawn carriages create more pollution than a thousand automobiles, and a thousand wood stoves create more pollution than a thousand oil furnaces.
  6. Animals who die naturally in the forest suffer far more fear and pain than animals who are killed quickly in a slaughterhouse.
  7. Species which are raised for slaughter by man never become endangered.
  8. If all the garbage that mankind could produce were dumped in one place, it could only fill up a tiny corner of the world because the garbage comes from processing a limited amount of wood, oil, and food.
  9. Clearing jungle to grow cotton for "ecologically-friendly clothing" endangers more species than hunting animals in that same jungle to make fur coats.
  10. The word "Ecological" includes the word "logical." People who are "Ecoillogical" do not help improve the world.
