CYPRUS
During one of the long weekends we planned an escape from heat of Cairo with a couple of friends -- to Cyprus. We were desperate and naive, because upon arrival we learnt that July is the hottest month in Cyprus and usually the temperature is even higher than in Cairo.
But we enjoyed the beach (wonderful sidewalks with great restaurants along the sandy beaches -- topless women was highlight of the trip for Timothy); breathtaking drive in the mountains (consequtive u-turns take you up the one-lane serpantine road, just to face 2 buldozers descending towards us!. We had the herd of mountain goats cross our way also. And all that on the "wrong"side of the road); castles, monasteries nestled in the mountains with enclosed gardens; great and cheap food, hospitality and a spirit of adventure.
