Author's note: A few days ago (Thanksgiving Day, in fact), I saw this wonderful old movie on TV, one that I've seen a thousand times and it got me to thinking... and so now I'm attempting to do something for which I haven't yet done: I'm going to post a story for which I haven't completely written, edited, or rewritten. Nor have I criticized, torn apart, tossed aside, picked back up months later, reviewed, re-drafted, plotted, etc. A first for me. Please be kind...
