911 DAY, WE PRAY

Remember those we lost on 911 Day
Our Freedom and its' cost, for the victims, we pray
Naivete and innocence were blown away
Proud to be an American, united we say

911 will forever hold a new meaning
We share the grief with the families of the missing
Firefighters and Policemen, who gave everything
Volunteers relentless, to eternal Hope, they cling

Together we witnessed the devastation
We watched in horror, as victims tried to run
There would be few survivors, practically none
Will we ever know the toll of the damage done

Now we stand united, with a half staff American flag
Though we are a proud people, it's no time to brag
No one will complain about check ins or jet lag
How their flight was delayed, long, or just such a drag

911 Day will remind us of those we can call friend
Who gave their Life for a stranger, a true heroic end
The World Trade Center was destroyed, a loss hard to comprehend
The Pentagon was struck, the heart of those sworn to defend

In Pennsylvania, a vain effort that saved many more
A cry went out around the world, revenge, to avenge the score
We will defeat this enemy, these Terrorists, we swore
God bless our America, our faith in Humanity restore.

In memory of those lost on Tuesday, September 11th, 2001
