You Know

When I met you, somehow I knew you were special
A beautiful woman, a hidden little jewel
As we began to speak the knowledge was clear
And in time our feelings would slowly appear

Our friendship blossomed from just acquaintances
The words come easy, listen to what each other says
We easily became friends, it was natural
To enjoy each others company, inevitable

When we are together a warm feeling comes over me
I listen to your kind words, and believe me I see
These perceptions concur with every ounce of your being
An everlasting friendship not just a casual fling

A mutual devotion to each others welfare
You are a passionate woman, and really quite rare
Your loveliness revealed in everything that you do
I always smile when that sweet message arrives from you

We trade compliments, showing what each already knows
Believe it or not we accomplish this still wearing clothes
Would you ever have thought that you could care for someone
But here we both are and we know that it can be done

So, dear sweet lady, this poem I have written for you
I have explained how I feel, but you already knew
Our time together to be cherished, and built upon
We shall enjoy the sunsets, will watch the coming dawn.
