My Theatrical Debut

The first big production I ever did was Meet Me in St. Louis, my freshman year of high school. Since then, I have done about 10-15 other productions. I've acted, I've done stage crew, I've even been the student director. When I first went to college, I was a Music Theater major. I still enjoy theatre. I just don't know how far it would take me. I think I have a better chance as a music teacher.

Here I am in "The Curious Savage," my first drama ever. My name was Mrs. Patty and I played a crazy old woman.

Here I am being all cute in "Mary Little Sunshine." Just shoot me now.

Everyone in theatre has to do "The Music Man" somewhere in their repertoire. I played the role of Alma Hix, the pick-a-little lady.

My biggest debut in high school was playing Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker." We had 6:00am rehearsals. Every morning I would get beat up and then have to go to class. You should have seen my bruises. It was worth it. I grew a lot from this production.

Here are 2 of my favorite people. Dr. Weber was my choir director for a year and my music history teacher. He is very talented and a terrific person. I learned a lot about myself and my ability from him. Rolaine Hetherington was my voice teacher. She taught me so much. There were days I came out of lessons crying, but I grew from that. I will miss them both dearly.

Here I am dressed up for my first opera, playing the role of Marcellina in "The Marriage of Figaro." My costumes were fantastic in this show. I had so much fun.

Here I am dressed up for my second opera, playing the role of Zita in "Gianni Schicci."

Here is one of the scenes from the opera. This cast was great. This was the first show I ever did where we were definitely ready for opening night. It was great to work with such talented people. I'm not sure when I'll get to do that again.
