Company History

The Ateneo College Guidance Office was established in the 1970's. Counseling, being the main thrust of the department at that time, was aided by a small amount of random guidance testing. In 1980, Mrs. Consolacion Concepcion replaced Father Caligan as department director. She saw to the radical reorganization of the guidance office according to the Havighurst Development Theory that centers on the developmental phases of life. She began to institutionalize guidance testing and interpretation.

The CGO aims to arm the students with the necessary tools for self-actualization in the context of personal, familial, and societal realities. The CGO hopes to aid in the formation of the Ateneo student through its guiding principles of self-awareness, self-exploration, self-enrichment, and self-offering. These serve as the foundation for its main service of program development consisting of academic excellence, social awareness, spiritual maturity, and cultural rootedness for the students.

The CGO offers counseling, guidance testing and interpretation, interviews, scholarship program, academic program, and career exploration workshops. There are currently seven guidance tests: PRF, CSMS, NVIT, JVIS, FIRO-B, FWVS, and MBTI. Counselors are responsible for advising, interviewing, and test interpretation. Psychometrician checks the test results.

The addition of the Student Personality Profile Database and Statistical Package for Social Survey last year has greatly enhanced the effectivity of CGO. These are primarily used in the monitoring of students, profiling, prediction, and correlation.

The Project

In essence, PAN-C is tasked to modify the Ateneo College Guidance Office's student profile database into a more effective and efficient system that gathers and analyzes Ateneans' pertinent data.

For the entire school year, the four members of the team that make up PAN-C will work with the CGO, for free, in creating new tables for the additional exam, as well as modifying forms, queries, and reports in line with this. For the first semester, PAN-C will be creating the new tables and reports to be added to the database and will add new features as well as new functions to the queries, forms and reports in the second semester.
