A Step into Grace and Space

Free floating feather soft and lost
Took a step and broke free of touch
Turned too fast and lost my grasp
No tether to haul me in or bring me back

The mother ship lost her sweet embrace
The air I breathe is finite and thin
There is no way back
No way home
No way in

I wait motionless with no direction
I wait for nothing to take me home
Stars beautifully surround and enfold me
So close to heaven so far from grace

I tumble in space I spin in place
I feel no pain, no hurt no grace
Waiting in wonder for life to cease
I see my world yet seek release

The sunshine now eclipsed is gone
The ship is vanished no cheering throng
But peaceful dreams are eerily calm
And in them I am in your arms
