HEY!!! This page is dedicated to all you awesome people up there in Alaska......I miss y'all sooooo much!!! I also miss going to Costco and Fred Meyers.....And remember...

ALASKA IS THE BIGGEST STATE IN THE U.S.!!!

__
Well Alaska, specifically Anchorage is the best. There is about 500,000 people there. It is just like a regular city, with hotels, gas stations, houses, schools, JC Penny's, stores, Baskin Robbins (I used to work there!!), everything.... The temperatures (and lack of shopping places) are what sets Alaska apart from every other state in the US. In the winters, it can dip down to negative 60 (very rare). In the winter there is plenty of darkness, around 20 hours or so. The summers are not like any other. There is so much daylight that you can stay out all night and not even notice it's 1 or 2 am. It's great. The temperatures are usually around the 70s and the 60s. Sometimes even the 80s!!! The summer temperatures are very comfortable to live in. The scenery is very natural and really beautiful. I really regret not seeing a lot of the sites in Alaska. Although I did get to see those glaciers at Portage Glacier. Everyone that goes to Alaska visits there. I can't even count how many times I've been there. In the summer, I did get to go fishing sometimes with my dad. I even caught red salmon!! I caught them either dipnetting (the lazy way) or with a pole. It was a lot of fun. I didn't get to gut it and all that fun stuff though. Fishing is pretty popular, as well as four wheeling through unknown paths and the forest. Camping is a big deal there too. I wasn't a big fan of it, but when I did go, we just got into trouble out there. Alaska is a natural, open place to do whatever and just have fun.

Let's see the best place to hit the slopes in Alaska I think, is Alyeska Resort. They have the best slopes, best teachers, best guys, best everything. It is located about 45 mintues away from Anchorage. I used to snowboard and ski there. That's a picture of the top of Mighty Might... If y'all haven't tried skiing or snowboarding, TRY IT!!! What have you got to lose?? If I can do it, anybody can! Well if you can't get to any snow, try ice skating. That's always fun. They have them in malls all over. Or sledding. I love sledding. We used to get those huge inner tube things and fly down the mountain. Walking back up the hill was hell though...

There is a Chinese community of about 2000 people in Alaska. We were part of the Alaska Chinese Association for 5-6 years. We got together on special occasions such as Chinese New Year, Moon Festival, etc.. Most of the kids attended Chinese School weekly as well. We learned Mandarin Chinese. We read, wrote, and spoke Chinese for 2 hours in classes. And usually after, we had some sort of activity. Usually the girls had Chinese dance practice and the boys had Lion Dance practice. Both practices were later performed at various events. I did this for five years.
I also played slowpitch softball for 5 years. I played in the 16 and under league in the Junior Olympic League. We were undefeated for the 1997 season in our league. Also in July of 1997, we won the 1997 State Championships for slowpitch softball!! Most of our team members have been playing with our team, The Tundra Arts Slammers (we didn't pick that name!) , for five years. So we were really proud.
