HRM HQ, Carrion Cove, Genosha

X-Treme and Domino had wandered around the large facilities for what seemed like hours. They now stood in the middle of the large briefing room, awaiting the arrival of their hosts. They were constantly under the watchful eyes of their HRM escorts. After being cleared by the medics they were allowed to journey further into the building. A small man had escorted them, and let them know the wheres and whats of everything. He departed when they reached the briefing room. That was over an hour ago.

Starting to get impatient, Domino began to pace the room, absorbing in the surroundings, when the door opened and in stepped Valerie Cooper, followed by a small rabble of mutants. The foremost of the group was a blonde haired woman with bright glowing eyes, standing directly behind Val. To her side prowled a feral mutant boy with a coat of dark fur and bright mane of blonde hair flowing across his face. He held a single sword in his left hand. Following behind him was a slim figure, clad in a black metallic armor. X-Treme couldn't make out whether the being was male of female, as the armor concealed every facet of its being. The only one who looked normal was the fiery-haired girl who followed behind the rest.

"Thank you for waiting so patiently," she announced followed by an entourage of four people. "As you already know, our organization, is fighting for the freedom, not just for the 'Homo sapiens,' but for ALL of mankind, including mutants."

"What are you saying?! That the 'mutant camps' you've got set up all over Israel and Istanbul are there to ensure mutant 'freedom'!? Give me a break! It's your 'Resistance Movement' that's been hunting down mutants all over the world, rounding them up, and treating them like we're all loyal to Onslaught! Saving everybody, my ass!" spat Domino and got up, ready to go.

"Look, at least hear me out!" Val shouted after Domino.

Domino paid her no attention, and went for the doorway. The two hulking HRM soldiers at either side of the door closed in to block her path. Domino stopped dead in her tracks. "Don't test my luck."

Adam quickly came over to her side, pulling her close to him. "Dom, let's just hear them out. No point in us causing a scene now is there?"

Domino said nothing, just looked forward in defiance. "Make this quick."

"Listen, I'm not here to make excuses. Mutants and humans are at war. We know that in the past, we've done some things, that were...regrettable, to say the least, but at least here we're trying to change all of that. We want to reclaim Genosha for the good of both human and mutant. But to do that, we have to drive out the Prelates' presence on the island, and in order to do that, we have to overthrow Nemesis."

"Nemesis?" Domino muttered, her eyes still focused forward.

"In case you haven't noticed, Genosha is not in the greatest of shape, and both humans and mutants are being oppressed by the same person. What we're need to do is just make things better, but in order to do that, we need to take this bastard down!"

"And just who is this Nemesis?" inquired a now interested X-Treme.

"He's the ruling force in Genosha right now. We also know he is a High Prelate, single-handedly chosen by Onslaught himself to rule over our island. Beyond that, we really don't know too much about him, other than he's an extremely powerful mutant of the highest level."

"This is bullshit!" proclaimed Domino, as she turned her gaze towards Val. "I don't buy into any of this stuff. I've had enough of this! "

She continued forward, as the two HRM escorts both still blocked her way. In an instant she delivered a swift kick to one soldier, and bust the other's face with her elbow. The two soldiers fell to the floor, as the gathered mutants pounced up from their positions.

"C'mon Adam, we're leaving." Domino stated as X-Treme joined her side.

"Dom, --" X-Treme started but was unable to finish. The woman with the glowing blue eyes reached out to hold him, and pulled at him with an incredible force. X-Treme stopped there, as Domino turned back to aid her partner.

"You're not leaving until we say you're leaving," the woman threatened, "until Ms. Cooper says you can."

Taking up the challenge X-Treme and Domino exchanged glances and then nodded. As if on cue, both of them threw a kick to the midsections of the woman, and made a dash for the door.

"You're not gonna get away from Kylun," muttered the young blonde to himself as he threw a wave of sonic energy from his sword towards X-Treme. Just as the wave of energy was to hit X-Treme, he made a sharp move to the left, dodging the wave and heading back towards Domino.

"Aye, this guy's pretty good," Kylun thought as he sped up towards his target.

Meanwhile, the blue-eyed girl had made her recovery, and set her sights on Domino. Domino turned to face her opponent, but was blindsided by the mysterious armor-clad figure, as it swooped down in front of her and grabbed her around the neck. He/it/whatever had a grip like a vise. However, the grip was released, due to a kick in the head, by X-Treme as Domino fell to the floor, gasping for breath.

Quickly, X-Treme picked up Domino, and they bolted again. This time, they were stopped by a blast from above, exploding right in front of them. Looking for another way to turn, X-Treme realized that they were surrounded.

"Siphon, Kylun, Darkhawk, Firestar!" shouted Cooper as she shook her head, motioning for them to back off, "Let them go."

Abruptly, Domino pulled her arm away from her captor and walked out of the door with X-Treme.

Suddenly, the building began to shake. Then lights went out for a moment, followed by flashing red lights. Val Cooper quickly grabbed her communicator and asked about the situation.

"We're being attacked by..." answered the voice down the line, as it was suddenly replaced by static.

*BOOM!*

Suddenly, X-Treme came crashing through the door he had just departed from. Before the gathered warriors could have time to gather their thoughts, Domino came crashing through as well, followed by a mutant powerhouse by the name of Frenzy.

She pummeled her fists against the wall at either side of her, as the bricks came crumbling down, opening a gaping hole through which eight other mutants appeared. Their leader was the first to step in, over the rubble.

"I am Zealot, leader of the Marauders. We are Nemesis' elite and it is in his name that we command you to surrender, or face our wrath!" shouted the leader of the group.

"Like hell we will!" shouted Siphon as she got ready for the attack to come.

"THEN SO BE IT!" replied Zealot, "MARAUDERS ATTACK!" and with that command, the Marauders charged forth. Immediately, Siphon was pounced upon by a cat-like woman, pushing her head to the side.

"Thornn is going to enjoy this..." the woman hissed, as she raised her claw up.

Suddenly, from behind, a beam of energy flew through the sky, and hit her assailant square in the back, causing her to scatter off of her prey. Siphon, quickly glanced over to find that her rescuer was Darkhawk. She gave a quick smile, when she noticed Stinger ready to give Darkhawk a shock.

"'HAWK!!!" she cried, as she fired off an optic blast, piercing through Stinger's flesh, knocking her out of action. Darkhawk quickly turned around to see Stinger on the floor, and then turned to see Siphon. Before he could thank his partner, his world was turned upside down, by a blast from Kieros.

Amongst the confusion, X-Treme had gone unnoticed as he regained conciseness. He crawled over up to his feet, and darted over to Domino. "You okay?" he asked, pulling her up.

"Huh?" was all Domino managed to reply before her eyes widened at the sight of Frenzy running, full speed in their direction. "X-Treme!"

Startled, X-Treme turned around just in time for Frenzy to slam right into his chest, cracking a couple of ribs in the process. Following in behind her was Blockade, a monstrous mutant whose power was double that of Frenzy. He charged towards Domino, when, from no where, a blast of heat flew down and landed across his face. Surprised at this attack, Blockade looked up to find that his attacker, Firestar, had a large smile on her face. However, this smile was soon wiped off of her face, when an explosion from Kieros knocked her out of the sky. Blockade, then turned his head back and went after Domino.

At that moment, in another part of the room, Valerie was on the comm-links, signaling for help. "To anyone that hears this! We're under heavy attack! Need help! I repeat...!" But before she could finish, a sharp spike had risen from the ground and ripped the computer in half.

"Nice try," Zealot said as he slowly made his way towards Valerie Cooper.

"Get the hell away from me," threatened Cooper, "I'll shoot you if I have to!"

"But how are you going to shoot me," retorted Zealot, "if you don't have a gun?" At that very moment, the earth rose and ripped through Cooper's right arm. Cooper immediately fell down in pain, gripping at what remained of her limb. Zealot then let out a laugh, as he closed in on the helpless Cooper. All of a sudden, a wave of sonic energy whizzed by his ear.

"Ey! Why don'cha pick on someone yer own size!" shouted Kylun.

"I'll be back for you, precious," Zealot whispered into Val's ear. Slowly, he turned around to face Kylun. As the two men stared each other down, the ground beneath them began to shake.

"Damnit! We can't just sit here forever!" Domino complained, while dodging Blockade's swinging fists through sheer luck and skill.

"Well, what can we do?!" replied X-Treme as he avoided yet another one of Frenzy's haymakers, following up by throwing several of his throwing knives at the woman, each one sinking into her skin. "Get out of the way!" he shouted to Domino, as two more of his throwing knifes plunged into the thick cranium of Blockade.

Both Frenzy and Blockade were suddenly tangled up in a web of kinetic energy as the open wounds crackled all around them. The throwing blades, still sunken into their flesh heated up at a tremendous rate, and seeped further into their flesh, causing an excruciating pain.

Meanwhile, back on the other side of the room, Kylun and Zealot were still battling and neither had gained the upper hand, when the rest of the Warriors began to converge on Zealot. Seeing that his comrades were down, he shouted to Kieros, "Bring down the roof!" Within a matter of seconds, a chain of explosions erupted up on the ceiling and debris came crashing down.

Then, everything was calm, but for the rustling from beneath the debris. p> (Short for the 'Human Resistance Movement' - Benn)

An hour later.

"Hey! I think I found her!" shouted a worker.

Immediately, a group of people came to help, dig through the rubble. Gradually, the body of Valerie Cooper was revealed, still breathing. Slowly, they pulled her out of the wreckage.

When she opened her eyes, she was greeted by the faces of all the Warriors, including X-Treme and Domino.

"Good t' see ya boss," cried a teary eyed Kylun.

"Wh-where?" Val stammered, as light invaded her eyes.

"You're still here. The Prelates are gone, but they'll be back soon. We've got to keep moving." X-Treme answered.

"Adam, Domino...you're still here?" Val asked coughing, as she winced open her eyes.

"For the moment." Domino replied sternly.

"I think we'd best get on the road, before they send a back-up party to intercept us." Called a unfamiliar voice from those gathered around. Val then turned her head to the other direction and saw a man with a dark mustache. "Also, we'd better find out how the Prelates twigged on to us, and fast. If we've got a leak, we need to find out about it before we make our next move. Adam, you and I -"

"Who --?" asked Valerie, interrupting him.

"I'm disappointed. I thought you'd recognize me. Maybe you're still a little dazed...I'm your cavalry." He answered with a devilish smile that could only belong to one person on this world.

"Stark!"
