ANNAMARIA GAMBINO-COLOMBO

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I studied art history at Columbia University, from where I graduated with a BA in Art History.

After working for two years for a major auction house in New York City, I moved to Italy in the early 80's, and started attending the Istituto Universitario Olandese, in Florence through which I received an MFA in Art History from Utrecht University.

Returning to New York, I worked another year at the same auction house and in 1990 I moved to Washington, DC and started attending law school at Georgetown University.

I am currently the partner of a law firm in northern Virginia which specializes, among other things, in copyright and fine arts law.

I enjoy attending gallery openings and make it a point to visit as many openings as possible during First Fridays at Dupont Circle, Third Thursdays at 7th Street and Third Fridays at Canal Square in Georgetown. Over the last eight years I have averaged purchasing three pieces of original art by local Washington artists each year.

I decided to create these pages in an effort to help the local Washington art scene and its many talented artists, most of whom are sadly ignored by the local press and media.

Although all the opinions and words on this site are just that (my opinions), I have been surprised at the huge number of positive emails that I've received and somewhat shocked at the also alarming number of hateful and even threatening emails sent to me simply because someone disagrees with my opinions. This is the reason that I took my photo off this page and the reason I removed my address and telephone number from the website.

For the first year of this website, I used two of my firm's interns to do a lot of the research and web maintenance. This caused some problems with my partners and I've stopped using the interns to do the work. Since I do not have the time, I regret that the site may suffer, and encourage all of you to email me with corrections or additions.
