Ajax this week:
Great great great,PSV dropped points! The chance for Ajax to increase the pressure on the guys from Eindhoven. And so it was done. Against the same opponent as PSV had last week, Ajax played at home against Den Bosch and they were willing to help Ajax to narrow the gap. It became a festival. Machlas took a main role, 3 goals. First breaking the game open in the 29th minute, a header, unstoppable. Laudrup could not stay behind and scored immediately in the 31st minute. After that Grim was too busy claiming offside, he should have given that energy to stop a relatively easy ball from Michels, but he failed, 2-1 was the game at halftime. Ajax did finish it off after tea, with 4 additional goals.Machlas again with the head took it in the 49th minute, super magic Knopper(Euro 2000?)took care of the 4th goal in the 58th minute. Machlas made his little hattrick complete in the 88th minute with a penalty. In the 90th minute the show ended with a claim of Witschge to take a freekick just outside the penalty area, and scoring controlled the 6-1.
On this 100th grassfield in the Arena, Ajax could have scored many more but still there is satisfaction in the player group.Ajax takes the lead in the competition and is looking incredibly confident. So who's next to be crushed by the Amsterdam Bulldozer Boyz?
Ajax next week:Ajax has some tough opponents coming to Amsterdam on the 29th of october. Allthough their strength in home-games, Roda JC is a true challenge next friday. Still with Roda having lost this week and Ajax looking unstoppable, placing your money on yet another win for Ajax seems a good bet.
Note for Ajax: 8

Rest of the competition:
PSV finally dropped some points, thanks goes out to FC Twente who got a draw in Eindhoven, coming back from a 2-0 (first goal Nistelrooy's 16th!)to a 2-2 after the 88th minute.Booth scored twice. That puts PSV in second place, but still having 2 points ahead of Ajax when they win the game against NEC. Feyenoord was bloody lucky but had hard times against the last in the table, home against NEC they had a crumbly 2-1. And the fans cheered, ain't that pathetic? Roda JC and Vitesse played their subtop game which ended in a 0-1 away win for Vitesse, with Hooydonk scoring his 11th goal from a beautiful taken freekick, but Roda JC deserved so much more(see moment of the week) Willem II escaped(again) and won with a fat(??)win over MVV, 1-0 in Tilburg. Heerenveen keeps in touch with the top after beating direct opponent AZ in Alkmaar also with 0-1. FC Utrecht stopped their fall a little by beating RKC 4-1 at home and the spirit that gave RKC wings seems more gone every week.A shifting is taking place in the table. PSV and Ajax well ahead with only Willem II who can slightly follow.Roda JC in 4th place allready has a
7-point bridge to take to Ajax.Even though there were not many goals(except for Ajax that is), it was a very interesting weekend.
Note Competition this week: 8

Moment of the week:

Why is it that every time when something is stated again and again, nothing is done about it? So many many times people have asked for electronic camera's on the goalline. This week it would have prooved justice to Roda JC with a ball entirely behind the Vitesse goalline but still disapproved. Shame on the linesman. And again it is being discussed and again it will lead to nothing just to the same "I told you so"story the next time it happens. Bad shameful moment in Kerkrade, good moment in Eindhoven. PSV's draw brought some tension back in the table. Ajax took advantage and are now in front of the whole lot of them. Ajax no.1, long time ago, but sounds sooo terribly familiar.Let's hope it stays that way!

(Not having enough fingers to count Knoppers goals, but a happy satisfied boy nevertheless)
