Ajax this week:
Friday Ajax started the competitionweekend no.6 at home against Vitesse. Weeks Vitesse has not played optimal but still caution was necessary. But it turned out to be an easy game for Ajax. A glimpse of the good old killerinstinct was to be seen in this game. Defense and especially goalie were weak but the attackers are looking strong. Van Hooydonck added one goal to his topscorer status(and now has 7 goals)in the 13th minute after some desastrous goalkeepingwork of Grim. That goalie is not fit for the real Ajaxmatches; van der Sar is missed. But the attackers showed that Vitesse has an even worse goalie, who had no response on 3 easy rollers. Two times the rollers came from Laudrup, in the 22nd and 62nd minute, and with the extra bonus of scoring them through the legs of defenders as if they were just porches. Arveladze, who replaced the still desperately seeking for his goals Machlas, gave the third roller in the 84th minute after confusing the goalie Jevric of Vitesse . And Ajax got what it deserved:a solid win. Vitesse can heal yet another wound while Ajax can rest a little more assured that the old form is glimpsing again. A great win of Ajax in European competition next thursdaywill bring all the confidence that Ajax needs for the next games. Ajax surely showed that they have even more talented youth, this time by introducing a good playing Bobson.
Next game:
Ajax has another tough match to face next weekend,away to a goodplaying Willem II. Still the chances are about fifty-fifty. If Sparta Prague will defeat Willem II in Champions League they will sure be less confident to play Ajax. But it is a fact, playing Willem II in Tilburg is getting to same tension as playing an away-game against Feyenoord or PSV.Toughy, but not impossible!

Competition this week:
With knowing that Ajax has won I could see the rest of the clubs.Saturday there was a clash between PSV and Eindhoven. Nistelrooy showed his superb class in a good functioning PSV with a hattrick and his PSV won with 6-1 at home. They have some solid playing and are looking strong. Feyenoord on the other hand lost from the big surprise in the league this season RKC, at home they lost with 1-2, very clumsy but it serves them right for having too much luck in their last games. RKC is going good, and is pleasant to observe. FC Utrecht showed that is it certainly not a topclub loosing in Den Bosch with 3-2. Apart from Vitesse the 2 other potential subtop- clubs Heerenveen and FC Twente had a 0-0 draw in Heerenveen, with Twente taking the best of the game.With Feyenoord,Willem II and FC Utrecht losing, Ajax had a good weekend, and only PSV could impress with their victory. A nice competitionround full of interesting stuff.

Moment of the week:
Of course nothing beats seeing those pathetic little boys that call themselves the Feyenoord fans getting their welldeserved loss.Feyenoord is not going to become champion that easy this year and their fans are still in naive clouds. Every club that beats Feyenoord has my blessing. Lovely!
And for the third week in a row, mr.Luinge, referee(?),showed his enormous skill by over- punishment with a red card at the game of Den Bosch-Utrecht. This man needs to be institutionalized quickly and real good referees need to return. RKC is playing above their abilities and I wish them all the luck, the deserve my fullest respect.
