Everyone's favorite heart-throb, Orlando Bloom, was named after the character in Virginia Woolf's novel (source: BBC). Interesting to consider his androgynous appeal in relation to the serendipitous namesake.

In 1999, Sally Potter directed a film entitled The Man Who Cried. It premiered in September 2000 at the Venice Film Festival, and was in limited release in the USA, UK, and Australia. It is now available on video and DVD.
