The Sad Tale of Humpty Dumpty and his Terrible End
© Dianne G. Davies 2001

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Where Humpty always sat.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
And landed with a SPLAT!

It wasn't by chance that Humpty fell -
The King's Men were suspected.
They left their prints on Humpty's shell:
That's how they were detected.

All The King's Horses put them in the cells,
In spite of their denial.
The magistrate ignored their yells
And sent them all for trial.

"Guilty, M'lud," the jury cried,
Led by the jury foreman.
Who sentenced them for egg-icide?
Why, Humpty's brother, Norman.
