Greetings!   Now that you've made it past my fearsome alter-ego, Wildabeast, you're ready for the next part of the journey. Buckle up!

If it helps you to know, I'm originally from Indiana. If that's not a good thing....blame my parents.   If you are not familiar with the "Hoosier" state, lucky you! You're not missing much unless you like basketball, big holes in roads and LOTS of corn.  And of course....the Indy 500!  However, since 1997 I have resided in the state of Kentucky. Here you get basketball, big holes in roads, and lots of trees! It's an improvement of sorts.

Ok, now for the rest of the show! Hopefully I haven't screwed anything up too badly here. But hey, I'm a woman, I can screw up anything I want!

My name is Amanda and I'll be a happy 36 this year. Be prepared for mood swings, bitch-out sessions, and man-bashing! (not really, I'm just practicing for when I turn 40).

I'm a believer in hard work, fate, time to heal, and the nature of things. I'm human like the rest of you and I enjoy this thing called life...the good and the bad parts.

I'm an artist by natural talent and in my heart. I see art in almost everything. All my senses are tuned in at one time or another and I like to observe what's going on around me. Whether it be nature or man-made, I'm watching and looking for all the details. Of course...this is why I'm often accused of not paying attention elsewhere....

~ On the serious side of things ~

T here are millions of people in this world who experience adoption. Whether they be the parents giving their children up or families taking in adopted kids, or the adopted kids themselves...they are ALL effected by the process. The important word here is FAMILY. Adoption never effects just ONE person. Once a person, or group of people, get to know me they learn that adoption is an important part of who I am, who I was, and who I will be. With my own experience, my adoption was the first real act of responsibility my birth mother took upon herself to make. It was not an easy decision for her...but I can honestly thank her for it.....and I have. It does, however, bear repeating anytime.....THANKS MOM! Thank you for giving me life. Thank you for caring as long as you could. And thank you for being the person you are today. =)

For more of my thoughts on the matter and an eventual account of my experience, click here.

To learn more about some of the more responsible aspects of adoption, and to get help on the subject, click here. Also, check out OneList. When you visit, type in "adoption" in the search engine. Here you can talk to people around the country about adoption in a "newsgroup" format. You can never ask or learn too much about it.

~ On the lighter side........ ~

A One of my greatest interests are cartoons!   Bugs Bunny is my classic favorite. I used to dream of becoming a graphic artist or an animator. I have also dreamed of writing and/or illustrating children's books. But if I had to choose, I'd be a sculptor! In the meantime, I spend a lot of time at a desk in an office doing totally un-artsy things. Thank goodness for books and the imagination they foster.

Another "hobby" of mine is participating in Civil War re-enactments with my group, the 7th Kentucky, Inc. I love history and become more involved with learning more about this country's past with every passing year. I must have missed something in highschool American History class because I don't remember it being this interesting! At any rate, if you have an interest in re-enacting, please visit us folks at www.7thkentucky.org

Here's a selfish plug for a bit of my own artwork. And please...if you don't have an open mind, try to! It's easy, I promise.
