ALL TO MYSELF

All to myself I find the way Back to each golden yesterday, Faring in fancy until I stand Clasping your ready, friendly hand; The picture seems half true, half dream, And I keep its color and its gleam ALL TO MYSELF. All to myself I hum again Fragments of some old-time refrain, Something that comes at fancy's choice, And I hear the cadence of your voice: Sometimes 'tis dim, sometimes 'tis clear, But I keep the music that I hear ALL TO MYSELF. All to myself I hold and know All of the days of long ago - Wonderfu days when you and I Owned all the sunshine in the sky: The days come back as the old days will, And I keep their tingle and their thrill ALL TO MYSELF. All to myself! My friend, do you Count all the memories softly, too? Summer and Autumn, Winter, Spring, The hopes we cherish, and everything? They course my veins as a draft divine, And I keep them wholly, soley mine - ALL TO MYSELF. All to myself I think of you, Think of things we used to do, Think of things we used to say, Think of each happy, bygone day; Sometimes I sigh and sometimes I smile, But I keep each olden, golden while ALL TO MYSELF. Wilbur Dick Nesbit

The Woman I Am

The woman I am Hides deep in me Beneath the woman I seem to be. She hides away From the stranger's eye -- She is not known To the passers-by. She goes her way, The woman I seem, But the woman I am Withdraws to dream! The woman I seem Goes carelessly -- When love goes by Does not seem to see. But the woman I am Knows sudden fear... And hides more deeply When love draws near! For love might look closely Perhaps... and see Her beneath the woman I seem to be ! Glen Allen

If You're Ever Going To Love Me

If you're ever going to love me love me now, while I can know All the sweet and tender feelings which from real affection flow. Love me now, while I am living; do not wait til I am gone And then chisel it in marble - warm love words on ice-cold stone. If you've dear, sweet thoughts about me, why not whisper them to me? Don't you know 'twould make me happy and glad as glad could be? If you wait till I am sleeping, ne'er to waken here again, There'll be walls of earth between us and I couldn't hear you then. If you knew someone was thirsting for a drop of water sweet Would you be so slow to bring it? Would you step with laggard feet? There are tender hearts all around us who are thirsting for our love; Why withhold from them what nature makes them crave all else above? I won't need your kind caresses when the grass grows o'er my face; I won't crave your love or kisses in my last low resting place. So, then, if you love me any, if it's but a little bit, Let me know it while living; I can own and treasure it. ----Unknown
