I was there when the moon came up over the
mountains full and ever so beautiful.

I was there when the fog slowly enveloped the landscape,
settling like tuffs of cotton through out the branches of the trees.

I was there when the cool night breeze rustled through
the pines putting my heart adrift on the wings of flight.

I was there to hear the coal train as it passed through
the mountainside, the rails making a mournful sound.

I was there and danced with you in the moonlight
and kissed you ever so gently telling of things to come.

I was there when the lightning raced across
the midnight sky to be seen for miles.

I was there when the thunder rumbled angrily in
the far distance as a warning to all.

I was there when the night air chilled as the storm grew closer;
you embraced me, giving my inner soul warmth and peace.

I was there when the storm crested the moon like the torrid waves
upon the ocean floor, leaving only a glow as its beams tried in
vain to pierce the darkened sky.

I was there when the first tear drops of heaven lightly
touched my face and washed away the sadness.
