next day's entry

It has been a really long time since I last wrote in this journal so I guess I'll bring it up to speed...

We ordered our invites and are mailing them out tommorrow.  They are really pretty and I will attach a picture of them after the wedding.

We had booked a '57 Cadillac for the big day last April (99) and we got a call from our reception site in early March to say that it wasn't available our weekend and that we needed to choose another one.  Of course, all the nicest ones were already taken, so we settled on renting a Limo for 3 hours (and an extra $75) and just hope for the best.  I think it might present a problem because the limo needs to be at my house for 1:45 and the wedding is at 2:30...then the pictures...I don't know if that will all be done by 4:45...if it's not then we will have to pay an extra $150 for each hour!! ARGH!

We chose our cake as well.  It is a three tiered white cake with pearls on it as well as yellow roses.  Each layer is going to be a different flavour (black forest, strawberry shortcake and lemon) I love it and again, will post it after the wedding!!

All the men have been fitted for their tuxedos and the styles have been chosen.  They will all have the same black tuxedo but Steve will have the pewter vest and windsor knot tie, the groomsmen will have a black vest the same as steves with the windsor knot tie, and the fathers and my brother will have plain black vests and ties.  They are going to look sooo great!

The bridesmaids dresses.  This was a biiiig mess, but it's all sorted out and I'm glad it's all over!  Originally, my colour scheme was lilac and silver but because of the dress availability it is now sky Blue and silver.  I kinda like the sky blue better anyway. It's a  really pretty colour! They are wearing silver shoes with it and Trisha (one of the bridesmaids) found a great deal for them!! THANKS Trish!

The flowers.  We are having yellow and white roses for everything.  It's going to be soo nice!My bouquet is going to be an all white rose nosegay bouquet and the bridesmaids will be having yellow and white versions!! Our pew bows have daisies in them and I'm really happy that I was able to incorporate daisies into it considering my dress didn't look good with them.

Speaking of my dress, sit down, boy do I have a story to tell.  As you read on page 2 of my journal, I bought my dress, the one that I didn't think I would like, but cried over? Well, ever since the day I paid, I've been crying!!! That was in August.  I get a call the first week of December from the bridal store saying that they've had to *GASP* close their store, but not to worry, they've stored my dress and they will bring it to me, for the full price...for crying out loud!! Do I have the worst luck? She wouldn't leave a number to be reached at, and was giving me a hard time about delivering it to my parents house instead of mine.  Like I want to see that women without the proteciton of my dad/mom/brother/fiance.  Oh, and they said we had to come up with the rest of the money by the end of the week for it!! THE friggin' nerve of her! So her husband brings the dress over one Saturday afternoon and my mom and I take it upstairs to see if it's the right one.  It looked fine so she told me dad...  Afterwards, we figure out it's the sample dress...a size freaking 4 (I can't breath in it because my chest is too big- let me just say that NEVER happens!!) and it's ivory instead of diamond.  Downward spiral of my wedding spirits.  Oh well, we'll deal we figure.  In January, I finally get up the courage to tell my mom that I hate my dress totally shocking her.  We decide to look for a new dress, it was short lived, and I decided to live with the one I had.
FAST FORWARD to APRIL 15th 20000...8 weeks and counting!!
We take my mom for her dress fitting and while I'm waiting this girl and her sister and mother come in and try on this dress....this amazing dress...she didn't buy it and left...I was almost in tears when I saw her in it.  It was a dress I'd been in love with since I first got engaged (Don't know why I didn't buy it).  So we get in the car to leave and my mom turns to me and says, "why don't you just go in and see how much it is" so I did.  It was an average price for a wedding dress, but I decided I'd just try it on to get it out of my system.  It looked sooooo nice, but I didn't cry! I think that was a good sign considering the tears had finally stopped!!! LOL  So the husband ( owner ) said he'd give us a really great deal in light of the whol problem with the first dress...and he did.  It was a better deal than we could have ever imagined...I'm soo happy!!!!! I can't wait to share it with everyone!! The next 60 days will drag by!!!
