Wake is a very small paradise-island in the Pacific between Guam and Midway. Airplanes (F4F Wildcat) had been sent on the island December 4th. When the Japaneses attack on December 11th 1941 the American push them back and even sinks 2 destroyers. Humiliated by this surprising resistance, Yamamoto borrows to Nagumo (who was coming back from Pearl Harbor) 2 cruisers, 2 destroyers and 2 carriers (the Hiryu and the Soryu) to definitively crush the resistance. Twenty days later the last Wildcat is shot down and so the japanese bombers are free to bomb the island's defenses. The 23rd the Japaneses land on the island and major Devereux is forced to surrender himself after an indeed heroic defense.
