Dear Comrades we have a great task ahead of us this year. We need to build on the great successes that Dave left for us in his years as the post commander.
In the past we have concentrated on the membership and money (the things that the national and state seem to take notice of). I intend to build more community service into our posts programs. I need your help with getting credit for the little things that we all do that help our neighbors and the community. Some of the things that we did in the last year were; financial donation to the counsel for the elderly, youth sports (couching a team), Voice of Democracy Scholarship program, VA hospital visits, and taking part in patriotic celebrations. Please let me know if there are any community programs that you are involved with that might connect with our efforts. If you have any pictures that you took while away from home of a national monument or military installations that would be appropriate for our web page please send a copy. I went to the Arizona memorial in Pearl Harbor last spring and will update our web page soon with some of these pictures, and new information. I have no pictures of
Army, Marine, Coastguard or Air Force items, I think they would look great on the web page.We have purchased (3) welcome to Halifax signs from the VFW with the award money that we received last year.Two have been posted on RT 106, the next will be on RT 36. We need (2) more to cover all of the major roads into town (RT 58)
I am pleased to inform you that all members are invited to the District 12 reception that is being held at the Marshfield post in early October. Come to the next meeting for details.
The Officer Training Institute will be at the Westboro Mariot on 25/26th of Sept. If you are not going to attend the school session please join us at the hospitality rooms on Saturday night, We will be sending our new post Chaplain, Al Mundie, and Quartermaster, John Bessette. I have been asked to help as an assistant registrar. If you want to go to the dinner let me know the tickets are $25 ea.
