Unit History

We primarily reenact a relatively unknown unit, the 99th SS Fallshirmjager Einsatzgruppen company. It was a very small company under Skorzeny's command, but its existence was held in secret.  Since the fall of the wall, some new archives have been discovered that prove its existence.  They operated primarily behind the lines in Siberia, and were allowed to let their hair and beards grow long. I am really excited about reenacting this unit since I will not have to cut my hair or beard ( I do  Zouave in civil war) Obviously, the insignia for this unit is very rare.  We are currently contracting with one of the major reenactor suppliers to reproduce the insignia.  Another interesting fact about out unit is that they were one of few units that was issued and used the "dot" jump smock.  The 99th was also issued the dot helmet cover for their paratrooper helmets.  Production of these garments is underway as well.  We received some nasty comments from a few suppliers when we tried to have these garments made, but found someone who is willing to reproduce this rare piece of militaria.  However, in the spirit of the new millenium, do not believe in excluding anyone.  So we have members in our unit that do other impressions like Heer, Waffen SS, Luftwaffe, etc.  We think of ourselves as one big happy family, with arms extended to embrace any reenactor who wishes to join us.

My boyfriend, Bob Martin, does a Handschar impression as well.  He converted a Shriner's fez by applying the proper insignia to it.  Bob is also in the process of converting a Kawasaki motorcycle to a BMW configuration.

We reenact in Southern US, with many of our members living in the Mallas (pronounced mal-ice) area.  We usually stay away from the big national battles and big groups (TMHS, TSG, AHA etc).  We feel that these groups only purpose is to promote elitist ideas and attitudes.  The 99th is an equal opportunity reenacting group.  We accept people of all races, religions, socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientation, and levels of authenticity.
