David Wood
David is my first cousin three times removed. He is also the son of Colonel Sam N. Wood. David was born August 25, 1851 in Mount Gilead, Morrow county, Ohio. David died March 09, 1944 in Montrose county, Colorado. David joined the Grand Army of the Republic at the tender age of 10. It is believed that he was the youngest soldier to enlist in the Union Army during the Civil War. He served a little less than a year because he contracted malaria in Missouri while serving with his father's cavalry company.
