Ulysses Simpson Grant
( 18th President of the United States, aka: "Hero of Appomattox")
President Grant is my sixth cousin five times removed. Ulysses was born April 27, 1822 in Point Pleasant, Ohio, Robert E. Lee, Commanding General of the Army of Northern Virginia, surrendered his men to Ulysses Grant, General-in-Chief of all United States Forces, on April 9, 1865. Ulysses died of throat cancer July 23, 1885 in Mount McGregor, New York.
