The Dabney family, deriving of the United States, had been fixed at Faial island attracted by the great possibility of commerce that was figured here.
The arrival of the Dabney to Horta was given for 1795 return, and here the family would remain practically during a century. The last of the Dabney had returned to U.S.A. in 1891.

Samuel Dabney, one of the last ones to abandon the Faial in 1891 and that he would come to died in 1893, have in its sepulture a crown of marble bought for local public subscript in 1894, certifying appraise and the esteem of the inhabitants of the Faial.

Still today in the United States if they find descendants of the Dabney family, having some of them been gifts in the Faial has some years, in a homage that the island of the Faial made to their ancestor, for much that had made for this island.
