Corps History

Originally formed as a Drill Association in 1880, #9 was given it's current title in 1904. It was also known as the London Collegiate Institute Cadet Corps. It reached battalion strength(approx. 600 all ranks)in 1913, and was eventually disbanded 02 October,1933.

The corps was reformed effective 19 December 1940 in accordance with Militia Order 10/41 and known as No. 9 London Central Collegiate Institute Cadet Corps. It was sponsored by the London Board of Education. Affiliation with the Canadian Fusiliers CA (R) was granted on 12 March 1942.

Affiliation with the Canadian Fusiliers was canceled, and effective 01 May 1958, the corps was affiliated with 3 Bn RCR (London and Oxford Fusiliers). On 01 May 1960, the corps was amalgamated with two other corps, No. 2414 (Sir Adam Beck S.S.) and No. 2601 (G.A. Wheable S.S.) to form No. 9 London Secondary Schools Cadet Corps. In 1993, No. 9 was re-affiliated with 22 Service Bn, and in 1996 sponsorship by the London Board of Education was ended, and the corps was re-named No. 9 Royal Canadian Cadet Corps.
