SHIP'S CREST

The SAVANNAH crest design is the composite result of the efforts of her crewmembers.
It's dominant figure is SAVANNAH performing her primary mission: providing vital support to other ships of the line. With a small conventional destroyer to starboard (to the right of SAVANNAH) and a sophisiticated guided missle cruiser to port (to the left of SAVANNAH), SAVANNAH's flexibiltiy of delivering needed products regardless of customer type is demonstrated
Traditional values are symbolized in the colors of the crest. The furl's banner bearing the ship's name is in RED, reflecting both the courage of her crew and the danger inherent to the vital cargo she carries. Purity of purpose is symbolized in the WHITE lettering of the name itself. The GOLD background above the BLUE sea signifies quality of performance and dedication to professionalism in serving the fleet.
Total commitment of SAVANNAH's mission is reflected clearly in the simple statement,
