Post-Practice Summery by Head Project Officer
All,

The first practice of the INWG NCC team went pretty well.  Everyone got a little better understanding of what to expect for the comp.  Not everything went as smooth as silk, but that wasn't expected either.  I was very pleased with the over all tenor and teamwork that I saw going on. That is very encouraging!!!!!

I am pleased to inform all of those who were not there of the teams decision about a motto, patch and t-shirt idea.  C/1LT Patten's motto was selected as the team motto:

Making your mamma proud!!

The Team's mascot and namesake is the Phoenix.  This was chosen for a symbolic reason as a NCC team has not come from INWG in several years. As a Phoenix dies by  fire, it rises from it's own ashes into life again....... as this team has.  It has been reborn from the ashes that were
scattered across the wing and now is yearning to fly once again.

A Patch/ T-shirt design is being drawn up by our resident artists, C/1LT Patten and 1LT Baier and will include a blue background with the torch and 16 stars from the Indiana Flag, as well as a Phoenix rising out of the flame of the torch, as well as a flight of cadets saluting toward the left side of the patch.  It is a great combo of ideas that were presented.  After the final sketch is made I will take it to the maker and will have it made into shirts.

Innovative Drill---
The Drill routine that I wrote is pretty difficult, and needed some work.  So C/LTC Hornby, C/2LT Rosenbarger, 1LT Baier and myself spent a very sleepless night on Sat of the practice beginning to rewrite it.  I can assure you that it will be easier, less complicated, but still new and fresh.  C/LTC Hornby has been tasked with working on it for refinement for the next practice.

Standard Drill---
This part was a little better than expected, everyone was patient, and cooperative in the  learning of different movements.   As everyone found out, it can be a bit hard to remember some of those seldom used movements, as 1LT Baier showed us all!!!  Anything in the Drill manual is fair game for the judges to throw at us make sure to review it.  If you need a copy I would suggest checking the CAP Web Site or ordering it from the bookstore.

Panel Quiz---
As we found out from the Standard Drill, Quiz questions can come from anywhere in the aerospace manual. Just like the drill, make sure that you are reviewing it, this in the past from talking to LTC Gill has been a week point for the teams and they take big hits on it.  STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!!!

Written Test---
Attention to detail, teamwork is key......... How many of us would have failed the test, because we didn't fill in all of the info before you even took the test????? the answer is several!!!! make sure that you are slowing down and remaining calm.

PT---
I thought that this part was outstanding!!!!! C/TSgt Benson did a Great job on organizing it for the weekend.  Make sure that you are heeding his warnings, and doing your part for the team effort.  Everyone was really working hard on pushing themselves to the limit!!!

Things for next practice......

1) You will need your blues for this practice.  LTC Gill will be conducting a blues inspection in the format of how it will be done at the region contest.

2) Remember the uniform items that we have decided upon for the contest: Issue shoes, CAP Tie Tacks, check your uniform out and make sure that it isn't prior service and has stains and stitch marks on them.  Make sure that all threads and such are removed.  Make sure that you all have the chrome buckles, and not faded blues belts.  V-Neck T-shirts required for the guys.  Females have to have slacks not skirts, and the tuck in blues shirt as well as the Tie Tab, I will let your three decide on that, but it has to be the same.

3) C/CAPT Greeson will be the DCT for this weekend as C/LTC has a military career conference in Washington DC on that weekend, and will not be able to be with us. It was approved before the team was put together.

4) Make sure that your homework assignment is completed and to me a week before the practice.  Just to review, you have to make a 50 question test, multiple choice or True/ False test, as well as a separate answer key with the reference of where you got the info on the key next to the answer.

This can be hand written but I prefer typed, Just make sure it is legible. You will need to send it to me at;

7) C/CAPT Greeson will be making a shower schedule for the showers, It took way to long for that this practice and put us behind schedule by an hour, and some had to take cold showers, so a quick shower would be appreciated.
