In 1995, we had a very RARE ELK come onto our property and allowed me to photograph it! I had first seen this elk by chance when my rescued horse was snorting and blowing, facing the tree on the edge of the pasture! She was good to warn the other horses about the bears, cats, and deer when they came on our place !

These pictures were taken in 1995 by me  I cannot say I can take good pictures but this cow was very agreeable to me walking out in the pasture with my hubby's camera. I had told my hubby (who is an elk hunter ) about this "white cow."  He scuff at me seeing a RARE WHITE COW! So when he was watching Football with a friend down the road, I took these pictures to prove I had!

Not great pictures, as I was not using the correct lenses for the distance! However, this cow was in our pasture at the time we owned 3 Elkies and they were howling up a storm when this herd came into the pasture below them!

I wanted to share these photos with those who will never see a white elk in the flesh!

THE SAD PART ABOUT THIS IS STORY IS THIS COW WAS SHOT AND KILLED AFTER LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER WE MOVED  FROM THIS HOUSE! WHY? WHO KNOWS.  HE HAD PERMISSION  FROM THE FORESTRY DEPT.  HE SAID......I SAY "HE WANTED A TROPHY  FOR HIMSELF"... THIS IS A RARE ROOSEVELT ELK AND I HAVE FOREVER BEEN UPSET BY THE ENDING OF THIS STORY!
